Hangar Rebuilding
« on: April 04, 2008, 04:31:22 AM »
Ever seen a C-47 drop troops on a v-base, and just as the paras are floating down, a hangar pops and out come 6 wirbelwinds, 3 panzers and 2 Ostwinds? :rofl

It would be great if you could see the hangar rebuilding, e.g. walls first, then the roof... and then kill it before it's complete.

Your visual clue to a destroyed hangar's status is the smoke. Once it stops smoking, it is going to be up within 5 (I think) minutes.

yep, you're right hammer........drop tha hangar, it's down for 15 minutes. it'll be on fire AND smoking. the smoke stops when there's only 5 minutes left.  your best bet anaxoqoras.......have troops nearby...we sometimes land near the base while the air group levels it.....and have one of yhour squaddies drop the hangars from the air. i good bomber pilot can get 2 on the first pass, then come round for #3, and have that one down within 5 minutes or less of the first drop....that'll giv e ya about10 minutes to get ur drunks in there.

Ahhh ok, but can cannons shells do the same job as a bomb when the hangar stops smoking?

It was actually in WB 1.x that hangars would rebuild like that, or so I seem to remember.

nothing effects the hangers while they are down, they will be back up again in 15 min.
then yes you can take them down with cannon, but you could do that anyway

i never flew WB....didn't even know about it till i came here.

i may have created a misunderstanding too.......if the hangar is not fully up, you cannot drop on it or shoot it. it's either fully up or fully down.
what i've done though is this. if i have enough ords left over, and theres a hangar soon to be up, and i have squaddies on the ground, i continously fly drop pattersn over the hangar i think is about to pop. if i time it right(about 50% of the time) i have it lined up in my sights as it pops, and drop within seconds of it's popping. this does a good job of pissing off the bad guys too. :O

<<S>>

almost forgot.....you can kill them with cannon....20 mm works, bt i prefer the 30mm in the me110 if i'm doing it that way.

Ok, I see.  What I'm saying is that having to wait for it to rebuild entirely before you can bomb it or strafe it is silly.  It adds to the arcade-game like quality that AH sometimes suffers from.

I always love selective realism post like this, arguing the sillyness of not being able to destroy something during rebuild, when an entire hangar is rebuilt in 15 minutes.

So it is obvious Anaxagoras just wants to be able to keep a hangar down forever. And only wishes to hide his true wishes.

well, 15 minutes to rebuild an entire hangar is very possible when you put 50 guys on it :D

i was only telling him the way it is in here......i'm perfectly fine with things as they are......this sim to me is my escape from reality.

thanks!! keep up the good work!

If you want it to stay down, time it just right, hover 7K over the VH in an F6F, and with 10 seconds left, start a dive in and kill it when it pops...

Sometimes it works for me, sometimes it doesn't.
