Alternate Video drivers
« on: April 09, 2008, 07:17:44 AM »
Didnt there used to be a website that had alternate video card drivers for bother Nvidia and ATI video cards?

Is it still around?

I have to try something different as the game occasionally locks up in an "endless loop" that an error report traces back to the  NVidia card driver

Not the greatest card I know. But for now it will have ta do

Nvidia card 7600 GS 512 MB

Dread...Try the original drivers that came on CD with your card. if you dont have them use a older set. I tried the newer ones from Nvidia and omega. I got the same results as you have. If you have nvidia on board sound then definatly go back to the originals for both.

Im running the Nvidia 7950 Vid Card and the Nvidia NForce2 Ultra 400 chipset.

IIRC Omegadrivers.net also hosts legacy driver versions so people can find also older drivers when necessary.

Well the Omega drivers caused my system to completely lock up as soon as my decktop appeared.
If left to sit for a minutes the screen goes black then ges filled with multicolored garbage.
Yes I uninstalled the old drivers and ran driver sweaper in safe moe before installing the omega drivers

Back on the newest Nvidia drivers now just for chuckles.

I did. thats what caused me to seek new drivers to start with.

I read on a tech forum soewhere from someone else having the same problem with a different game that Nvidia cards sometimes have issues with machines that use Corsair Ram.
Having bought 2 more gigs of kingston ram for my machine I removed ther one 512 corsair I had in there to use on my wifes machine. Thought that had been the answer. then the game locked up 3 times ina  row the other day.

Seems very intermittent. I can go days without a hitch. Then 3 or more times in one night. Or 3 or 4 days in a row

are you overclocking your CPU or memory ?  Is so then slow it back down or increase voltage to CPU. Same goes to Vid Card.

As a general rule I think skuzzy recommends the 84.66 drivers for nvidia cards....
