Frode,

That section of my post was in direct response to the post that was quoted above it. It was not intended to be a general statement. Check the quote I had and you'll see what and who I was referring to. I quite agree about the tacking on of pork and other unpalitable items onto a bill. That is why we need line item veto options for the executive branch. We also need to have a requirement that each legislator that voted to add the bit of offending legislation should be named.

Kaw,

Please go back and look at the post I quoted above that section which you took offense to. It was also to a specific individual. I just decided to combine all of the responses into one post.

Having said that however we should do something as individuals to hold politicians feet to the fire. That means sending letters and actually voting rather than being apathetic and blaming "them" for everything. I am not saying you personally didn't but if a citizen doesn't vote you have no complaint about what the government does. You had your opportunity to speak and ignored it. In that case you deserve whatever happens. Again I am not speaking to you as a person but the general population.

Letters to the politician, letters to the editor and other means of communicating including using a lobby group that has the same interests as yourself will do something to help make the politician more representative of you vs ignoring them like the non voting citizen did.

As far as shifting blame is concerned you are out of line there. I wasn't talking at all about duplicity in the illegal acts of a politician at all but the legal and usual work the position entails. If a politician decides to take a bribe it's not the voters fault, it's the politicians fault.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

Taxation without representation other than someones whim and greed. Seems like noone minds if the minutemen turn over in their graves anymore.

Quote from Maverick
Do you have any idea at all what that phrase means?? Were you awake in history class dealing with the 1770's?

FWIW, and I realize it's likely a wasted effort, the bill is being proposed by a legislator in the state of kaliphornia. That means he was ELECTED to that position by the PEOPLE of that district. This kind of fullfills the representation part since he represents the electorate that put him there don't you think? The Minutemen of the 1770's would have no complaint regarding the representation aspect of this situation.

To answer your question, yes I was awake during history class. It seems you were sleeping or maybe tired when reading my post to pick it apart and not really read into it yourself. Maybe this is what inspired the assumption that i was some 15 year old pimple popper. I'll explain myself at what I meant by reply so the LITERAL people out there might understand it since text sucks as far as relaying thought sometimes.

Taxation without representation other than someones whim and greed. This I know we are being represented and yes we voted them into office yet they are usuing that office by their whim and greed. I see the politicians backed by companies and see this situation as to question what beer company is backing this guy meaning the greed is there.

Seems like noone minds if the minutemen turn over in their graves anymore. These days the general public is letting these "elected people" do whatever they want. Yes we are being represented but look at what it is doing. I think the forefathers would be turning in their graves to see what goes on these days with the very same system they fought to make. Now is that so hard to understand without thinking someone was possibly sleeping in history class sir? Does this maybe shed some light on what i was trying to say? Some people seem like they gotta pick apart everyones replies to feel important i guess. <S> See you in the virtual air, of the game, on the internet, in what is called cyberspace literal people! :salute
