So... You're basically proposing to criminalize Alcohol, at least the behavior of it. People who are addicted to it are GOING to get it somehow. What you're suggesting is that they need to start stealing in order to fund their habit.
And when that's not enough, they'll make it themselves. They'll do this to maximize Alcohol content through all available means and throw safety to the wind.
Congratulations. Your socialistic methods have created real criminals, victimless criminals and accomplished little more than that, other than making it more expensive for everyone else.
This was Prohibition, in the 1920's-30's. It didn't work; it was repealed.
This, however, is a tax, not an outright outlawing. It actually might fly, if it get's the right amount/type of support. Think MADD( Mothers' Against Drunk Drivers) and other anti-alchohol groups.
Now, as most of you know, this is a minority of people. But, they might have alotta money to throw into any campaign to pass this tax. They will most likely emphasize the money going to things' like welfare, or Medical. This will appeal to a certain amount of the poorer welfare-type's. (Keep in mind, though, quite a few welfare dollars go into buying alky though!!)
I really think that there are too many people in this state that drink, that this would ever get past on a popular vote. However, many thought the same with Tobacco,
and look how that turned out!Gonna wait to see if it even makes' the ballot.
