Iraq War Veteran claims his gunshots were unintentional
« on: April 09, 2008, 09:27:38 PM »
An ex-sailor by the name of Tyke Supanchick, after returning from serving in the war in Iraq, has claimed that he unintentionally shot his estranged wife multiple times with a 12 gauge pump action shotgun.

The couple had been fighting, and had recently separated.    His wife, Kelly Supanchick, had even obtained a restraining order against him.  However, as the police battered down the front door to come to her aid, the veteran, Tyke Supanchick, shot her multiple times with a pump action 12 gauge shotgun, killing her instantly.

After many long delays, his trial for murder has now finally started.   His attorney says that Supanchick suffers from severe post-traumatic stress disorder due to his service in Iraq.   And that Supanchick thought that he was back in Iraq and under attack when the police pounded on the front door.

His lawyer claims that this action by the police caused him to automatically engage in a military tactic called the "failure drill", and proceed to shoot his wife multiple times in her body, and then finish off with another shotgun blast to her head.   He says that the entire shooting was consequently just an accident, and not at all intentionally done by him.

Does this story pass your BS detector??  Could soldiers be coming back from Iraq so badly messed up that they could be doing this sort of thing?   Or is this guy trying to do a lame cop out here???

Here is a photo of him:

And here is a link to a news story about it written shortly after the killing:

And another new one from this week about his lawyer's arguments that the killing was not intentional:

I generally support our returning veterans, but this dude may be an exception.

I don't know man... a shrieking shrew of a wife in full on b***h mode sounds an awful lot like Haji launching a suicide attack. I think he's innocent.

There is no chance that this was a snap decision because the Police were knocking on the door.

Quotes from one of the linked articles.
1. "a judge approved Kelly Supanchick's request for a restraining order against her husband. Kelly Supanchick, 25, wrote in court papers that her husband had threatened to beat her in October and had previously threatened to slit her throat."

2. "The officers called for paramedics at 7:57 a.m. Kelly Supanchick was pronounced dead at the scene. Her hands had been bound with duct tape."

Clear domestic violence situation and obvious premeditation in the execution.

The "failure drill", whatever that is supposed to be, is a nice fabrication by the lawyer.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

another clever ploy by an attorney attempting to get a murderer off.  the attorney and the scumbag playing the veteran card is lame too.  he should rot in a cell in a maricopa county arizona type of facility.

I would think that if the police somehow managed to cause his training to kick in he would have been shooting at the police.

And.

Shooting someone once can be an accident.
Shooting someone several times then finishing them off with a blast to the head is about as accidental as breathing is an un natural act.

Even if that 'failure drill' story is true he should still be locked up. He is a danger to those around him.

I hope the prison gives him a lifetime of proper treatment, or that society puts him out of his misery in a taxpayer affordable time frame. Perhaps he'll even get to do some failure drills relative to his anal sphincter muscle while in the prison shower facilities. Please give him the help he needs.

LOL, was I complaining? I was being satirical because the excuses people come up with for monstrous behavior are so...creative, and the people picked for juries are so...gullible, that comments like "I voted him not guilty because he had kind eyes" happen all the time.

Serving doesn't give you an automatic pass to be a horrible person. I've know a few real putz wads who have served... but their behavior didn't meet the standard which the soldiers around them set.
