Looking for a Mossie Mentor

Greetings all.

I've recently discovered that I rather enjoy fighting in the Mossie.  Sure I end the majority of my fights as a spinning piece of charcoled wood, but hey, I'm having fun.  I like the way that the Mossie plows through the air retaining E, and I really like the gun layout (being of questionable gunnery skills, the Mossie's gun pattern seems to help me to put a larger concentration of bullets on target.)

I also like how after a couple hours of flying a Mossie, when I grab a Spit or Zero to defend a base, they feel extra nimble.  Kind of like a baseball player swinging a weighted bat in the warm up circle (flying a Mossie), then going to a lighter weight for the at bat (the Spit/Zero).

I'd really like to hook up with somebody who has some Mossie experience that I could ask a few questions of and perhaps spend some time in the TA with to improve my handling of the bird.  I'm not really wanting to be the scourge of the skies or anything like that, I just want to improve enough to make a better showing.

I've read what few write ups that I could find, and have learned a few things.  I've even gone to the trouble of setting myself up to be able to control my engine throttles separately (or together), but haven't yet put that to effective use.

I have a pretty fair understanding of the concepts of ACM, E-management, etc.  I simply lack the experience and skills to put them into effective practice.

I like to dabble with the Mossie a little. I mainly use it as an attack platform but I do like to get into a good scrap with it.

I'm relatively useless with it in a dogfight, though, I have a habit of putting it into a flat spin. Engines off and nose down and engines back on at full power once you get nose-down is a simple enough recovery but I find myself egressing from a fight I was previously getting the upper hand in because I pushed the Mossie too hard.

I've also noticed that it has atrocious handling with one engine. I rarely fly two-engined aircraft, so I can't remember how the 110 handles with 1 engine out but I know that it's a real handicap in the Mossie. I tried landing with 1 engine out and the remaining engine still on... Bad move. I got too slow... powered up a little bit (gently, too, I might add) and put myself in a flat spin. Luckily the universe was alinged in my favour at the time and I came down on the field in said flat spin, taking both wing tips off and damaging my remaining engine. The gear stayed intact and I managed to roll backwards onto the runway for a successful landing. 

Basically, I follow the same engine-out procedure I use for the 262 in the Mossie now. Keep it flying on 1 engine while you RTB. Once on final and you've sorted your approach out, turn the remaining engine off and, for the Mossie, drop RPMs on the remaining engine (both, if both engines are still spinning) and just land it dead-stick.

I know what you mean, I always find it funny when I up a spit or Ki84 and start executing elaborate moves and maneuvers, managing the E and suddenly I realize - hey, I can just yank the stick and blast them instead

Tween engine planes will have great problems on one engine at low speeds, when the rudder is not effective enough to counter the yaw. Landing should be performed with minimal power and relatively high approach speed. If you lost the rudder as well, the mosquito will have a serious problem in breaking. Try to nail the tail wheel to the ground ASAP and zigzag (carefully) so you don't run out of runway.

I used to be decent, but not anymore.  I don't fly enough and am very rusty.

PFactorDave, here is the thread I started as a campaign to fix the old mosquito FM. Most of my experience is flying the old FM, but the majority of the points mentioned there still hold.
