ALL FSO SQUAD CO'S AND PARTICIPANTS
« on: April 14, 2008, 09:33:29 PM »
Ladies and Gents,

Please control the launches of your squad members.  I've got multiple squads having members where they launch at T-Time, then either tower out on the runway, or ditch just off the runway.  Then, a minute later, they launch again.  The Admin CM's use the logs to score the event, and the logs are getting cluttered with all of these false starts.  One or two are manageable, but 10-20 a frame are excessive.  If this trend doesn't correct itself next frame, I'm going to start assessing penalties in an attempt to correct it.

I thought the last couple frames I've been hearing planes starting up on the runway before I've seen the Go from the CM more & more.

Our squad has a policy that no one launches until they get the order from me and not when the see it from the CM, this tends to help prevent those false starts.

Nothing wrong with aircraft being on the runway after the CM says fields are open.  Perhaps a good technique for CO's would be to tell the premature launchers to shut down and hold on the runway until the CO calls the launch.

Just be sure the players aren't disco after mass spawn lag.  It happens, alot.  That's why there tends to be an ignore of the first few deaths about 5 minutes into the Go call.

I asked that each flight should launch off of their assigned carrier in the order they have been listed.  And that this will help out w/ individuals frame rates and will give the CM's a well deserved break when it comes to the logs.

Example:

Kilo Flight - Cyan
## [##.##.#]:

Carrier C##

Squad #1 TBM-3's

Squad #2 F4U-1D's

Squad #3 F6F-5's

CM: Fields are open...

Squad #1 on deck while Squad #2 & #3 in tower,

Squad #1 clears the deck,

Squad #2 on deck... so on and so forth.

Personally my squad will wait their turn every time there is a mass launch from a said base.

If it says "landed safely", is this a mass spawn lag disco?  I wasn't counting the ones that said "disappeared without a trace".

Some can be attributed to stick calibration when going into the arena, x52's especially. When i first started playing it seemed every fso when i loaded up the map i would have to recalibrate my joystick. I had a few times were on take off joystick would go wacky and throw me into the ground due to loss of calibration. It's not so much a game problem IMO but saitek crappy software. Since the last patches though i haven't had this problem reoccur. Also some players come in late grab the right plane but the wrong load out, so they tower and correct the load out then re up. As long as the guy hasn't rolled down the runway i don't have a problem with him towering out to correct his plane ride or load out. He should probably tell the cm or his co though.

I've had the same issue as AKsleepy mentioned with my Saitek calibration, I always have to calibrate it before I take off and sometimes I forget to do it, screw up my take off and have to relaunch.

I'm sure alot of the relaunches last frame were on the Allied side and were due to people not making it off the CV.

Hmm, possible on that. I find the F6F and TBM easy to get off the deck fully loaded. While, okay I will admit it .. I always have a problem getting a fully bomb loaded F4U off the deck. Thankfully I am on the Japanese side this time. ;)

There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

I find the O'Club a fantastic place to watch the other squads up.  Especially on the new carriers.  Grab some Goldschlager and watch the fun til its time to roll out.

Apparently, one in five people in the world are Chinese. And there are five people in my family, so it must be one of them. It's either my mum or my dad. Or my older brother, Colin. Or my younger brother, Ho-Chan-Chu. But I think it's Colin. - Tim Vine.
