New players not trying so hard ...
« on: April 16, 2008, 04:35:21 AM »
... to come up with "new" stuff to wish for all the time. Take it nice and slow. Read the forum for awhile. Do a search every now and then. Get a feel for not just relevant WWII history but the history of the game ... the community. Meet a fossil or two. Appreciate what's already here. Get a feel for what's really missing versus what really isn't critically absent.

Then join me in petitioning HTC to start work on a Spanish Civil War planeset, dedicated arena and a full Spanish/Portugal terrain.

Ahem ....

Arlos right, you should spend most of your first year learning. Listen much, talk seldom, pay attention not just to whats being said. But also who is saying it, and why.

Be conservative, understatement is the rule of the day.
Don't brag yourself up, in fact don't be self absorbed at all.

When it comes to new ideas and suggestions. Think things all the way through.
If we ask for (this), and we get it, how is that going to change things?

What is that going to do to gameplay? Balance? Immersion?

At least then I'd finally get my I-16.

You're gonna need French AC for the Spanish Civil War----some Blochs and Amiots.

I suppose the "new players" condescension is in jest. (1) Conceivably one could be new to AH and a tenured professor of History at Oxford specializing in WWII; (2) the fact that one is new to AH doesn't mean one is new to this kind of sim---since I did WBs version 1 I guess I feel I have some "sense" of these games; (3) you are correct that one should get a feel for the community. (4) It is an open forum---perhaps you should ask HTC not to allow postings by anyone below "Gold Level"----until then I guess I'll post and assume people take my remarks for what they are----Zinc remarks. Finally, I guess I view these wishlists as little more than a venue to vent idle fantasies---I am assuming no one is actually gonna act on what I think----safe bet---I'm guessing.

This is where you are wrong.  These wishlists are responsible for us getting the Wirbelwind for one.

HT and staff monitor the wishlists, general discussion, bug reports, etc. forums and act on them as they see appropriate.  I've seen many ideas from the forums implemented in the game over time.

Other notable changes have included:

No more night
No more weather
Splitting the vehicle hangers up on VB's
Increased field ack
Increased troop barracks
The return of big maps

and the list goes on and on.

I personally appreciate that HT and crew are as responsive as they are to the suggestions of the community.
