491st BS B-25H, Wabash Cannonball
« on: April 16, 2008, 10:46:22 AM »
Lyric1 found me the info at http://www.rshonor.org/for this silver B-25H called Wabash Cannonball. This aircraft operated with the 491st BS in China.

I may play around with the metal effects and material file a bit more yet, I'm vacillating between too shiny, not shiny enough, more or less panel variation etc. Metal planes are always a bit of a compromise that way. The current skin is up at http://www.ah-skins.com/ if you want to take a closer look.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

I fly the F6F in the MA for a number of reasons Roger. I do fly other stuff in the AvA occasionally (when there's someone in there). Ironically the one time they had F6Fs in the AvA there was hardly anyone flying Axis, so I upped an Fw190A-5.

The Hellcat suits my style of flying, which is to force faster higher planes to overshoot or get lured into scissor fights. Very often the only way a con will engage in the MA is if they are higher and faster so it works for me. Besides its fun to nail them from 800 yards below as they try and rope me, the zoom climb and the powerful rudder makes it a very good prop hanging gun platform. In a scissors fight the rudder also lets it snaproll instantly from left to right and the view over the nose gives it excellent snapshot visibilty too.

Then there's the challenge of flying something that can't outrun or outclimb most of the opposition, you have to constantly think ahead to avoid getting gangbanged.

I also like that enemies know its me they are fighting, I often hear "I knew it was you". A lone Bishop F6F isn't that common in the MA away from a CV group.

So to answer your question, outside of torpedo bombing runs or ENY induced switches, you probably won't find me in anything else but an F6F.

I think the lines you mean are on the edges of the raised armour poly where there is some slight tearing. There's nothing I can do about that, its an issue with HTC's B-25H 3D model.
