wirbelwind too powerfull
« on: April 18, 2008, 12:02:34 AM »
i think it should be perked, cant kill the piece of crud in an aircraft ever! always gets me at most ranges, Its fire power is too strong and the m16 is rare to see these days. Its good to use but a pain to kill....

powerfull=yes  but a base defence should be strong when theres only 1 hanger on a AF and 3 on a VB.

having it perked is only going to put the noobs in a M-16 and they cant aim either one but for lucky shots but they will train and learn from them.

perk it how much tho?  wont bother me or alot of others with alot of points to spend.
perked or not youll still have the same to deal with, maby not those lucky shots from noobs but it wont die any easer being perked.

and the m16 is rare to see these days.

By that logic, the Me-163 should be unperked because it is very rare to see these days.

Wirbelwinds are best handled by two or more pilots working as a team. One draws fire, the other(s) will attack while the WW is occupied.

However, if you feel you must make a gun run on one alone, simply attack out of the sun (the sun should be directly behind you). They can't shoot what they don't see.

As for me, I just drop a bomb on them, releasing it from 2k above or higher...

I've lost only one aircraft to the WW since it was introduced, and that was my fault for not knowing he was hidden in the trees.

I find it easy to turret a wirbel. As WW said come out of the sun. Another thing do do is cut your engine so he cant see or hear you. I start spraying from 1000 to 600 then cut the engine on and WEP. Get as low as you can and try to put a tree between you and him just incase you missed.

I upped an FM2 last night, eny was through the roof, but it carried 2 bombs and 6 rockets.

Had I landed (a K4 ended my sortie for me) I would have landed 3 wirb kills, and 3 or 4 (cant remember right now) 'turreted' wirbs.

All in an FM2.

.50 cals will take out a wirbs turret easy.

The only adjustment that may be needed to be made is an adjustment in their rate of fire. I'm too lazy to go digging through past threads, but didnt the wirb have magazines that needed to be changed? As they are now they may as well be belt fed. It seems there should be a pause from time to time as magazines are changed.

My .02 for those who are interested.

If he does that, he'll just be accused of bumping a thread.
Seems to me like it's bordering on a Catch-22  :D :aok :rock

SKYGUNS, I think it's more your fault that you get shot down by these things.  I'm no expert at this sort of stuff (I know what I'm supposed to do; I just can't do it), but I'd guess that if you manage to get Widewing's tips down, you'll more often than not manage to turret them.

Afk for a year or so.  The name of a gun turret in game.  Falanx, huh?
Apparently I'm in the 20th FG 'Loco Busters', or so the legend goes.

There are about five "perk the wirbel" threads in the last few weeks. I dont think anyone sees anything wrong with posting in a thread thats about a month or less old, but making thread after thread after thread about stuff that has already been discussed many times is unnecessary.
