i know this is a old post but i have since been getting nonstop PMs and Emails about john. well just so happens john recently posted an update on his medical status.

       Gents,

As some of you have known, I been battling a bad heart for some time. I have been battling it with up most respect you have giving me and the strength you have shown me. Well the tables have turned bad.

6 weeks ago I was told I have stage 2 bone cancer. with a mass in my thigh. Last week i had mouth surgery and they removed all the cancer in my right side of my mouth, could only get about 85% out of left side of my mouth.

I have 2 origins of cancer in me. 1 is the bone cancer in my thigh. 2 is oral cancer in my mouth.

The bone has gone to my left lung, 2 masses, 1 with 7 blood vessels to it other with 9 vessels to it, in op also.

Mouth has spread to my left side of neck in lymp nodes, throat and left gland, alone with jaw bone and gums and maybe brain, not sure of the brain yet.

I will be having more surgery Friday, don't know what the plan is as of yet and won't til I get there, considering the tumors are back in left side in 6 days,

Path report is not complete, we know its cancer , don't know if its B cell or T cell, will know Friday also.

Chemo is going to be very tough considering its what gave the heart damage before with my old battle, As before I'm told i wont be around long, but til this day I have proved them wrong so far with the heart alone, nevermind anything else.

I will be flying again soon, Kilz is aware and talk to him almost daily now to update, When I come back I wont be able to talk a lot, or at all depending how much of my face and neck they take off, I will be back for a short time in nov, or end of Oct, not to sure, cause my stomach is so torn up and chemo hasn't started yet. 

You know my faith and its strong, not as strong as it maybe should be but its there,

I think of you as a family, more so then friends, you guys have been great to me and with that I say THANK YOU,  and <S>  , no matter what happens from this point on, know I'm battling, and I think of you guys often,

Be strong, be proud and thank you guys for everything

It's very difficult to respond to a post like this with any messure of understand of Johns situation.  We observe the fact as spectators thinking, "but for the grace of god go I".  Each and everyone of us will face the final curtain hoping our individual passage will be quick and painless.  Unfortunately some of us will face a barrage of ailment as John is now.

As observers we can only salute the mans tenacity, his durability and his courage in playing the bad hand he's been dealt.  I'm sure everyone reading this post will do just that.
