I'm a graphic designer and my choice is always a MAC over a PC. Most people do their work on a MAC and we never have trouble with our MAC's, PC's on the other hand have gone schizophrenic on us out of the blue.

I agree I try to be the very Best... although for the most part I have never been so PC.  Yet I'm reliable and hard working.
It doesn't take much to "Boot" me up on a "Cold Start". But I do really well if left running.

I use a macbook pro for work and I hate it. Everything in it starting from the retarded 1 button mousepad and bad acceleration curve is like sitting on shards of glass. It's slow, leopard eats huge amounts of memory while doing basically nothing and the list goes on. Even the screen resolution is bad, 1400x900.

I've used both PCs and Macs back to the DOS/Mac Classic days. I have always found the differences between the two in all key areas to be marginal to the point where the added cost and lack of game support are deal breakers for the Mac platform. Before the PC GUI era the Macs had a real selling point but that issue is long past. And at the time I could move around in DOS pretty well.

The Macs I've used have all developed reliability issues at various points just like the PCs. Bomb icon instead of BSOD. My windows XP install on my game machine offers a fine interface and was reliable for several years running without a hiccup. Security was once an issue but some slightly thoughful computing and a good (and free) AVS like AVAST maskes this largely a non issue.

And still, as in the beginning, we have higher cost and a lack of game support. I would have loved to "stick it to the man" many times over the years but just couldn't make the argument work. Perhaps Linux now that Vista is stinking up the place, but without better game support I'll just stick to XP anyway.

And, Bill Gates may be an evil overlord but Jobs strikes me as a smarmy ass.

I think the cost difference thing has been debunked several times the last couple of years.

Never had a problem with OSX
Never had a problem with XP

Havent tried Vista and dont feel the need, but i bet i would not have trouble with that either.

Maybe if you buy systems for general use and aren't particularly picky about the specific components.

The last "system" I bought was my first computer in 1988. The complete/new computers I assemble tend to have considerably more performance than store bought systems for either platform for the same or (usually) less price. On the purely upgraded systems I own it's not even close. And unless I can easily load the MAC OS onto this mixture of components -- advantage PC. It costs me much less to get the same or greater performance (if that performance level is even offered by Mac) though Newegg. And unless MAC gaming is up to PC standards then, who cares? I ran run Office or surf the Web on a Pentium 3 running Windows 98 just fine. Who needs a new Mac or PC for that?
