I love CV puffy ack...
« on: April 21, 2008, 04:19:02 AM »
I'm flying in a 262.. doing about 450 to 500 over a Rook port.. Bish are attacking with bombers I'm flying as Knight just looking for action.

CV is probably 6k or 7k away... Bish bombers are very slow and much closer to the CV.. Yet Puffy ack tracks my 262 and blows it up with a direct hit after 3 shots. Yet a set of bombers will fly directlly over a CV and the puffy can never seem to hit them... As I said I love puffy ack seems to work wonders at killing a fight..

Wouldn't that ack be from the port?

had the same thing yesterday, 51D at 350kts 13k weaving for observation. 3 puffs and an engine hit from a 5" gun some 7 miles away.

I realise ack was a major problem in WWII, but due to volume of fire not the lethality of a single gun. this needs fixing :(

Yeah nothing beats surving a good furball only to get whacked from a CV 16km away.

Decided to fly 2 sectors in a 109 with gondols to get a few kills at our vbase, which was being attack from an enemt cv. I get there, get 1-2 kills, then puffy ack shoots my wing off while I'm dogfighting a F4U!! I look for the cv while  floating to earth in my chute and notice it just barley visable on the horizon!

and if you think that's weird, I upped from our carrier one sortie to help the attack on an enemy airfield. I head for an enemy plane and then start spinning out of control. What happend? our OWN puffy ack, which was targeting an enemy plane, shot ME by accident and killed me! I know it wasn't an enemy plane/gv/ack because the nearest enemy was the plane I was going to attack.

EDIT: I would like HT to lessen the leathality of cv ack. I know it's weird, for so long everyone crying for more protection for cvs and now asking for less, but can HT please turn the accuracy of cv ack just a tad?

Btw this is the film if it helps..

http://www.wargamerx.com/temp/puffy.ahf

What is totally screwed up, was as I first came into the area a set of  Bish B17's were on a bomb run for the CV.. I didn't give chase because I didn't want to be anywhere near that puffy ack. The best part is bombers go right over the CV and the puffy is all around them but can't zero in 3 big bombers probably doing 250 mph. Yet I go even further away and take a direct cockpit shot while doing 450mph.

Just makes no sense, and this isn't the first time I've lost a 262 to puffy ack direct hits..

What i really want is CV ack to have more lethality and for it to have priority on LALA's and Spixteens. If possible it should also home on squeeks and excessive vox usage.

This has been complained about before.

It actually SEEMS like the further away you are the MORE accurate the CV ack is.

I died 3 times in ONE week in 109G10's (ya that far back) at over 13k just being NEAR CV ack.
It's been said we have three brains, one cobbled on top of the next. The stem is first, the reptilian brain; then the mammalian cerebellum; finally the over developed cerebral cortex.  They don't work together in awfully good harmony - hence ax murders, mobs, and socialism.

HT please set us straight and tell us why we can't have puffy ack bursts delayed and offset by an amount of time and distance proportional to the distance and velocity we're flying at, the same way real ballistics would be?

If HT is anything close from our airline's director of maintenance, he will remove the CVs and call "fixed". :devil

I can go as fast as I want and as high as I want.  I fall under the 'bomber' category and therefore am not targeted by the puffy ack. :D

I thought HTC said that would cost too much money to figure out the actual ballistics.
