International airline luggage theft
« on: April 21, 2008, 05:06:51 PM »
Did anyone of you guys ever had anything stolen from your checked luggage?

My Mother just came home to Brisbane, Australia from Moscow. She discovered that some things strangely disappeared from her suitcase. Cheap useless stuff that I am 100% sure was there: I have put it into a suitcase myself. It's a USB phone for Skype, two 55mm filters for digital camera and a 256Mb DDR RAM stick.

The suitcase was locked, but as far as I understood the lock was tampered with.

Mother flew Aeroflot: Kiev-Moscow-Tokyo, and then Quontas from Tokyo to Brisbane.

I am just curious, not going to "seek the truth"...

Eva just muttered something about it flying through Kiev and it likely being robbed very well. Think she's got some underlying hatred going on that hasn't yet bubbled to the surface. I'll probe further and see if I can sleep on the couch tonight.

Wish me luck comrade!

You know our circumstances, there was a fine choice between Kiev and Minsk...

Unfortunately, I got a little paranoid and will tell the whole idiotic story to the public in June.

I wish you luck... Please tell Eva that it wasn't me online in Skype last month, it was my Mother communicating with her friends all in Australia, Russia, US, Israel etc...

I have seen some things disappear from a co-workers luggage when traveling back from Mexico. Stuff like an old well used electric razor, camera ram stick, electric toothbrush, etc...

It even happens when you fly into a few of the major international hubs here in the US on domestic flights. Rarely but it does happen.

Yes it happens. As an over 100K mile a year traveler I generally never pack anything valuable in checked baggage. Only lost a scuba mask once coming back from Belize. American replaced it though. The airline even had a code on the check receipt for pilfered.

Hello from Santiago, Chile!

Had the opportunity to fly last week with Krusher's wife as a flight attendant. Thank you Mrs. Krusher for a very nice flight.

You guys didn't consider that pack of lying stealing pack of australians didn't nick it? They're even proud of being a country full of criminals and descendents of criminals. Hell their national song is about a sheep rustler who gets caught making sweet love to a ewe and throws himself into a pond to kill himself rather than be seperated from the ewe he stole.

When I moved to Germany a decade ago, someone in Cincinnati or Phoenix decided to nick my NY Rangers jersey.

I started this thread on something similar. I wonder if the Swedish midgets are to blame in your case as well.
