Does anyone here take online or distance learning courses? I've taken a few in the past from the University of California (Sacramento) in the various aspects of water treatment. I'm currently taking a course in forestry and fish & wildlife conservation.
At first, I was pretty skeptical about distance learning. The main drawback is that you don't receive the multiple exposures to subject material like you do at a real university (lecture/lab/study group/self study). But overall, I've been pretty impressed by the depth of the subject matter. I'm actually harder on myself to learn the material than I was at college (but, due to the lessened exposure, I guess I have to be).
Another big benefit I see is that the only time I have to actually be at a school location is to take a proctored test. My current job (nondestructive testing) requires that I travel very often.
Heres my actual goal. I want to get a job with either the state or federal Fish and Wildlife Dept. I know Oregon State University has a really cool distance program in Natural Resources, with a minor in Fish and Wildlife.
So, what has your experience (with accredited) online schools been?
