I like the fact that it is mentioned in every news article that he was to be married the next day.
Well....turns out that he had no marriage license....the next day was Sunday and all offices were closed, and that its illegal to be martried in NY without a license.
So.....perhaps there's a little bit of sensationalism going on wit the intent to make the Cops out to be brutish thugs who killed and innocent, honest man who was just out to have a good time before settling down to a life of productive domestic tranquity?
Oh..also turns out that I think he was listed as a "recently unemployed electrician" who hadn't had a job in 2 years but had taken a recent gun pinch and 2 recent arrests for possesion with intent of crack cocaine. Also, witnesses for the defense mentioned what started it all waas one of the group of men had propositioned one of the dancers for a little "overtime work" (solicitation of prostitution), which is what sparked this whole thing. When the manager became irate and the confrontation carried outside the club, the cops got involved. Not wanting to violate his parole or his bond, the deceased tried to run over the officers.
