Messiah, you probably didn't give pedals enough time. They are leaps and bounds better than twist-action rudder.
Tater, they work excellent in bombers because you no longer bank your wings when trying to get a shot (just unmap the twist-action on your current stick) and when you apply rudder to bank for a shot, it's controlled and does what you want. It's also far easier to keep formation than with my old picky twist-action (assuming you keep formation from one of the turret positions).
It's much more useful in fighters, because the input of your rudder does not spike/fluctuate depending on the pitch/bank inputs you make on the stick as you are fighting. Also, because of simple human ergonomics, a twist-action will always be easier to twist "inwards" (towards the torso) than "outwards" (away from the torso), and with rudder pedals you are equally effective in either direction.
