New CH stuff
« on: June 01, 2008, 07:05:26 PM »
Okay my first thought, Wowie! Nice. Never relized I could turn so sharp. Other thought. it keeps losing calibration. Could use some help with that. Seems to happen going from GV to plane. But I'm not real sure. I haven't set up any profiles. Not sure how or what is that script stuff.

Oh one more thing <S> you rotten rascals who can use rudder pedals. I've been using twisty sticks for 12 years. It's not an thoughtless move to use the pedals. However, I have managed to land on the runway a couple of times without dipping the wing into the pavement.

I'm almost to the point of getting over the learning curve of using pedals.   A month into it and I'm still overshooting, crashing 262's (don't ask), etc.

But you turn better than with the crappy twisty sticks, butterfly switches.

I'm having a wierd little issue with mine.  All Axis work fine but the forward on my joystick is all or nothing no matter how often I calibrate... strange

Don't know why you can't keep your calibration, mine is rock solid.

Calibrate in windows, then in AH one time then don't ever think about it.

One thing I just thought of is to make sure that the trim pots on the stick are centered (you can feel a light detent on them at center.)

what Sik said,

Others have suggested using a powered USB hub.  I got one because I didnt want to occupy 3 of my USB ports with CH gear.  Keeps it tidy having them all using the same hub.

Give it time to adapt getback and you wont regret it.

USE the CH software!

Install it and calibrate with it!

I wasn't getting full throttle, and some times I would lose cal after a chance meeting with the ground (which IMHO should be perked). :O :O :O

And every now and then cal would go away.

SOOOOO I installed ALL the LATEST CH software and...........

That solved ALL my problems! :aok :aok :aok

To the right of the stick is a wheel. Make sure that is centered. Had the same issue at first.

I do use a powered USB hub so that might be the issue for you, if you are not.

Excellent article and resource!

Thanks Homeboy!

One word of caution... If you install the CH drivers from control manager and have all your functions mapped in AH, they will be gone!  I've always had my CH Fighterstick USB and Pro Throttle USB mapped via AH and stock winblows drivers for the sticks and I downloaded the CH Control manager and just installed the drivers and went to AH and calibrated and found that all mapped  functions were gone.  I've repeated the process several times with the same results.  The CH drivers give a better calibration routine via XP game controller and shows the same devices in AH as is listed under game controller but your mapped functions are all missing.  Good thing I always keep backups of my AH settings so I just had to remove the CH drivers and copy the old *.jsm files back to the AH settings folder.

All the Best...
