Vorticon, your first pic of the bird poop on the rock was stunning- really, I could almost smell it. However, your second pic was less than inspiring...I mean, power lines? I don't get it. Is Mr.Black in that pic???

i suppose this picture of a falling tree would be better if that water wasn't in the way, eh ;)

It's a crappy lens for macro application...35-70mm f/2.8D AF.  A couple of them I post processed, not all.  It's probably my eyesite too, its not the best. 

I've noticed that good focus falls off severely from the focus point at a low f-stop which I'm not happy about with this lens.  For the waterfall shot, I used a slow shutter speed to blur the water.

Do you have any recommendations for macro lenses?  I use Nikon stuff. I don't want to spend more than $1000 though...

Thanks. I do too, but these really fall off drastically, IMO, or it could be my composition or position when focusing...either way the bokeh is dramatic.

really not a difficult to reproduce shot, assuming you can get 4 feet out from the shore on boulders, and have ice still on the river to set the camera on...
