Your favorite vulch
« on: April 04, 2001, 01:08:00 AM »
I had a sortie the other night that contained what was perhaps my favorite vulch of all times.

I was trying to sneak up on a base to take out the ammo bunkers and baraks to prevent a base capture of a nearby base.  I'd spent the better part of 20 minutes trying to get into position and was almost there when it happened.

The planes were launching from one particular runway.. about 2.2k away when stationary and moving when closer... the downside is it is so tough to hit a moving plane with the big gun and I was reluctant to give away my presence.  Then I spot him... a smoking La-7 heading in on an emergency aproach.  He landed at the opposite end of the field and then did the unthinkable.  He was coasting right toward me.

I knew I'd only have one shot right as he was stopping but before he exited.  I'd have to 1 ping him so it would have to be near the cockpit.  As he slowed, he was drawing much nearer than I thought he would.  He must have touched down at nearly 200.  The yards ticked all the way down to 500 yards before his tail wheel began to settle.  I had the distance dialed in perfectly.

It only took one ping.

I was still laughing as the same pilot completely destroyed my tank with a Yak-9T 2 minutes later.

Pity I can't remember the pilots name.

How about your favorite vulch stories.  I'm not talking about someone constantly respawning and nailing him over and over... I'm talking about that perfect bounce that you saw coming from a mile away and everything went perfectly.

racking up 12 kills on some idiot who was trying to take off from a base we were capturing..what made it sweeter was after every kill he would call me a coward and a cheater and whatnot...although he didnt seem to mind the other 12 aircraft with me that were doing the same thing, oh well.

that guy must have given out 50 kills to us within about 25 min while we waited for the M3 to arrive.

When on a strafing run in a B26 i got 3 A/C. 1 Spit who turned through my flightpath hunting a fellow countrymate not thinking the pointy end of the MARAUDER is dangerous   and 2 A/C just rolling down the runway

After that pass i was BINGO ammo and proceeded home with no further incidents.
If i fly a buff then the 26

Cit...

That was the funniest thing ive seen, i think it was 12 kills in 3 seconds. A whole squad waiting to take off, but there timing was off

And my vultch fun was just the other night, in the dark newB was up in b26, then another, then f4u & La7. Think i got 5 kills off him but what made it fun was it being night time

Film is long so i wont post it..

Dog out..........

Well, a certain someone who shall remain nameless was spouting off on the open channel about something all night.  I believe it was a plane whine, and he just wouldn't give it up.  One of us located him at a base that he was trying to defend, so we (the FDBs) decided to dedicate the night to him and make it a dweeb hunt...pretty easy since he was always upping in the same plane.

Since I was already i/b to this base in a B26 to help down small targets (had 250s loaded), I decided I'd join in after my bombing mission.  Arriving at the base, I line targets up in my site and pickle a few off...as I'm flying over, I see his plane type pop up at one end of the runway and start rolling.  I finish my first run, and extend out.

Now approaching the base from the opposite direction for a second bomb run.  I line up and say to myself "what the hell", and pickle a single bomb at the end of the runway where I saw our "vitim of the night" upping (or at least his plane type).

Moments later, as I'm in external view facing down to watch my bombs hit, I see the unlikely, wonderful situation I'd been hoping for...Plane pops up on the same end of the runway.  I wait, holding my breath for what seems like forever, but is only a couple of seconds and there it is.  Before he starts rolling my 250 pounder hits, and BOOM.  It's our victim.

Whether JABO or Bomber, my favorite kill has always been with bombs...rockets run a close second.

Im with sob only my preferance is rockets. A guy kept ackhugging in a nik and after a countryman got him I managed to vulch him on takeoff using rockets. That was my favourate vulch.

ON a particular day 3 or 4 tours ago I was feeling dweeby and rolled an ostie to a field and reaked havoc. got up to someting like 45 before i ran out of ammo. Got 2 more after that when they augered trying to get me.   my second  favourate vulching experience.

For the record, it wasn't a squad that was launching... it was a mission that Cit conveniently ruined. (Bastard)

I was among the unfortunate wieners sitting in my own cockpit with my engine running when I heard explosions all around me and suddenly I was in the tower.

Good thing perk points weren't enabled then, Cit might of gotten 400 or so for that one.

Hmm....got a few

1  "Accidentally" vulched a PT boat in my Lancaster 2 nights ago.  Was just taking off from base and saw the fleet.  Opened bomb doors and got level.  Just as I was level, 3 PT boats open up with machine gun fire.  Grabbed the stick and mistakenly hit the button and 2 1000 pounders fall away.  I veer away from the PTs and again level and aim for the CV when i see the buffer showing I killed so-and-so.  I can't beleive it yet out in the water is a little crater and one less boat!  WOW!

2  Flying with Wotan, Sturm and Bradys5 at A18 in the last map...flying B26 and waiting for Gooney to arrive.  Am showing off flying down the runway when the FH re-ups and a Spitfire appears at the end of the runway.  Guns guns guns!  He tries 4 times to up from the runway, and finally tries upping from the FH.  I fly THRU the FHs, guns blazing, to get him.  That had to look amazing from his view!  Oh how i wish Id filmed that!!

The time we were vulching a Knight field, and I had 9 kills and out of ammo.
There was our C47 approaching; it was their last field. Suddenly, a niki on the runway just about to take off in the direction of the goons. I just pointed my nose at his cockpit and pressed the WEP key.

It was the most beautiful and dweebish thing I had seen and many people around me cheered for me.
