Check 6 - Sun April 29th - Axis AAR
« on: April 29, 2001, 03:56:00 PM »
Thanks for the great event!

The Imperial Japanese Navy had a good show today. We definately showed the American invaders that they have no business in our territory.

This event was a continuation of the check6! event last week.  Read the briefing here and last week's results here.

IJN AAR

As the day began, our available forces were split into two. The main group would be attacking the allied fields, while a small group was given the responsibility of home defense. The allies launched an attack on A17, so thats where the defenders headed.

The rest of the IJN forces took off from A19, their target A18.  2 medium bombers, a troop transport and 5 escorts prepared the field quickly and captured it without losses.  The group refueled there.  Meanwhile, the allied attack at A17 was pushed back.

Next target was A8.  A few scouts were observed near A27, as our attack group neared on A8 from the SE.  Suddenly, we heard that A29 was being attacked by the allies.   Without IJN being able to defend it properly, the allied managed to capture it. We immediately launched some bombers and fighters to re-take it.

Our A8-attack group closed in on the field. Suddenly a low P38 was spotted, I dove to chase him.  The rest of the group continued to A8, which was already within visual range.  The P38 chose to run back to his homeland, without me being able to catch him with my Ki61 (disguised as a 205 to confuse the enemy. The confusion was total.     )

As I gave up the chase and headed back to 8, I heard our troop transport was on final there. We captured it seconds later.  We all landed at A8 and looked for more action.

Almost at the same time, the Allied managed to capture A24. They somehow sneaked in from A25, which made it apparent that that field posed a threat.  Therefore that was our next point of focus.

As the home-defense group finished the re-capture of 29, the rest of us launched from A22, forward sweep first. As we got to A25, we saw 2 enemy P47s and 2 P51s low at the field.  A fierce furball ensued, which lasted for over 30 minutes. We succeeded in getting a bomber in and destroy the fighter hangars.  The enemy put up a valiant fight, but they were eventually all shot down. As the rest of the hangars and ground vehicles were killed, I managed to bring troops to the field and capture it.

As the day neared its end, it was apparent that the Imperial Japanese Forces had scored a great victory over the American opportunists.

We managed to take one small field, A18, and two medium fields: A8 and A25.  The allied only captured one small field, A24. In addition, A29 was first captured by the allied, but shortly after re-captured by the axis.

Salute all that took part in the event, and a special thanks for Mass and Ghosth for CM'ing!
