Special Event Night
« on: January 27, 2000, 06:00:00 PM »
Hokay folks, when is the first S-E-N (Spec event night)?  I wanna be there.  Who's hosting?  What era?  What missions?  Axis vs Allies with the Rooks being the prize.  Which ever side wins  ALL Rooks must immediately subjugate themselves, (Prostate prefered) before the conquerers!  In other words, WHEN the Bishops WIN, the Rooks must all sqich over to the Bishops side for the rest of the month.  (Ok ok ok!  The res of the night. [Ducks thrown chairs, bottles, bullets.]  Well how about for a couple hours then?)

I want to try and have something ready for next week.  We'll be working on getting an arena for events operational and working out some other details.

We should try a big level bombing stike.
All players online get on one or the other of 2 sides..
side one 80% of arena. 80 planes? 60 b17s 20 p51s..
side, 2 10 * fw190 10 * bf109g10.
All bombers set too 12 500s with salvo on 12...
Strike at 22k. on city and main field...
Wa ha ha ha..
and again
Wa ha ha ha...

I would do this, and would fly the LW side, so long as a 25K hard ceiling is placed on the bombers. The thought of 60 untouchable B17's flying over the country doesn't much appeal to me either way.

Whew, the last time I saw just 3 B-17's flying formation, frame rates dropped about 75%.  Would a mass formation of bombers even work?  Sounds like an interesting acid test of the sim's capabilities.

why put a ceiling limit on the bombers, how about we try sum strategy.WOW what a concept,ya mean thats legal?seriously, fighters should plan there strike when the bombers will be vulnerable, such as takin off or over the target or landing, use rockets on bomber boxes or hold out cold beer and draw them away

Boy, this tone sounds familiar....

FWIW, 60 B17's would be a formidable target at any alt. With the relative performances of the respective a/c in mind, facing 60 35-40K bombers would be something only 20 LW could never hope to counter. 25K would give the LW a fight that would be more realistic, and simultaneously, a fight in which there would be at least a sliver of hope of completing successfully. Take a 190 to 30K and you'll see what I mean.

Also remember that the B17's will have escort - 20 P51's? That's 5 to 1 odds. I'm more than happy to try, but not over 25K, thank you.
