White Lines, Green Lines, Blue Lines, Oh My!

I don't adjust my convergence at all, haven't touched it in the P-38 since I've been playing and is set to whatever the default is.

There is some debate as to whether or not the convergence settings take drop off into account.  From what I've seen and the testing I've done off line a few years ago, setting convergence at 400 yards is no different than setting it at the max convergence setting. 

I know some will swear up and down setting convergence does make a difference in the P-38 but honestly I've never seen it, especially when it comes to rounds dropping off.  YMMV.

I THINK MURDR, OR SOMEONE ONCE TOLD ME THAT THE  convergence does also allow for drop off.

It does automatically adjust the vertical convergence to match your convergence setting.  The degree that it makes a difference depends on the round velocity.  A .50 cal round leaving the barrel at 962 yards per second, really doesn't drop that much inside of 600 yards.  A larger slower round would drop more because it takes longer to get out to the 600 yard mark.

How do I know?

Vertical also changes with convergance setting.

hence the reason i set my cannons 25-50 yards farther than i set my mg so the cannons will be at near same level as the mg at 300 yds gives more loft in the bullet
you can test this with the p38 as well

i set my mg in the 38 to 300 yd and my cannon to 350 if you fire at the target  .target 300
you will see that the cannon will hit pretty close to center of the .50 s

i think now though i have it set mg300 cannon325 works good for me.

most of the wing mounted 50.s  i set to either 300 or 275 and i fire when counter reads 200
or on crossign shots where it reads - 400


im not a great uber shot but this works well and its what im used to.

on the nik and other 4cannon planes i will set them stagered 300/325 outside/ in

Here is another issue: some planes (Mossi, P39 for sure) have more lines of convergence than types of guns.

The Mossi has four 20mm and four .30 cal, but yet there are white, green and blue lines ().  What gives?

The P39 has FOUR colors (white, green, blue, and yellow).  There are four .30cal, two .50cal, and a 20mm (or 30mm?).  Why not just three lines of convergence?

There are others too, I just cant remember them off the top of my head atm.

Why do we only have two fire buttons?  My initial thought is because that is the way it was in these WWII fighters.  Correct?  Or are we facing a coding issue of some sort?

We have three fire commands, how many buttons you use for them is completely up to you.
Fire primary, fire secondary, and fire all.

I rarely set my convergence...maybe that's why I suck so much...
