I will duel people and give an honest and very respectful assessment that will determine a level.  Each level will have objectives to jump up to the next level.  These will be assessed by me and an elite group of unknown badarses., and will include duels I witness, are involved in, and films that I have viewed of duels.

Do "unknown badarses" and you give credits for previous duels, or do we have to start from scratch?  :aok

I probably wouldn't even have posted but for one thing. His ego IS that big and this is nothing but a way for him to try and stroke it some more. I can't count the number of posts he's made here in the BBS of him talking about how uber he is and everyone else sucks, or the number of times I've seen him on 200 talking down to people.

If he wants to claim himself as the know all authority for flying cartoons airplanes, and you want to back him up thats fine, but I've been playing this game for quite awhile now (coming up on 3 years) and I know who Skyrock is and I know how he thinks he's the best there is. If I met him face to face we'd probably get along just fine, but his in game persona and how he conducts himself in game most times is pretty lame IMHO.

I've fought him before in the MA and I've lost most of those fights and I learned from all of them. I think it's great if he wants to teach someone, but his post didn't really say anything about that did it? No it said Skyrock and a handfull of other badarse pilots wil duel you and then rate you.

Might have come off better if he had said something along the lines of "Hey I'm looking to teach people advanced ACM, if your interested look me up and I'll see if I can find areas where you can improve your ACM."

This time his persona proceeded himself and I found his post rather lame so I commented on it.

NP pal, your a good dude, if you would like to get a little better take on SkyRock, i would suggest you go here http://www.freewebs.com/yanksfan001/ and veiw his film bio, it will at least give you a closer look at the hows and whys of what he does and how he acts in game, he may come off a little rough at times (really rough) but he is a really good guy and a great stick, he has much to offer the community.

I guess this is one reason I don't play as much as I used to. I don't see the need for personas. I respect a person a lot more if they are just as real in a game (anonymous or not) as they are in life.

All except your own that is. What makes you so special that you can rate me and tell me what I need to do to improve my game?

No offense there Skyrock, you are a good stick in the virtual world, but your post kind of strikes me as nothing but a big ego boost to yourself. Comes across like "I am the best there is and if you ever want to be a badarse like me, you have to let me tell you how to fly."

Give me a break.

My view exactly, well said. Training certainly is helpful, and I have been lucky to work with two squadmate trainers in Warbirds---dhyran and flubby. Anyone who has spent some time duelling 1 v 1 would realize that it is a lot like golf or being a pitcher in baseball. Some days you have "good stuff" and your "A game" and others you wonder if you know how to play the game. I wouldn't want my "skills" evaluated on a single duel. Furthermore, what is required in a 1 v 1 duel is often quite different from what is prudent in the MA or in historical scenarios. Often a duel requires looking for that moment to throw "all your cards" down, fly on the edge, and get that "firing solution,"----such moves might be damned stupid with other cons around---but a warranted risk 1 v 1. I always did better in duelling tournaments than in the "game", i.e., defeating higher rated sticks---just because of the prudence of the imprudent move in a duel.

I dunno about giving people skill levels, because there are just so many variables in this game even in strict DA style 1 on 1's. On the flip side anything that helps teach people to fight I'm all for it, but I'd rather see it as a dog fighting school mixed into a ladder competition. Meaning set up something like the DFC but allow noobs or whoever to join and help teach them how to fight in both 1 on 1 and 2 and even multi con set ups.

Yes, exactly my thought on the thread as well. But thought I'd see how it pans out over a few months.

IMHO being a average/good stick is only a part of whats required for a trainer. Far more importantly trainers need patience, good communication skills, plenty of spare time and a genuine interest towards helping others. Otherwise it just turns into aimless sessions in the TA/DA over a couple weeks with no direction or ongoing development for the students. Which is pretty much where the levels idea slots in.

Well, some of the replys are typical and others are more on the spot...  let me quote myself here:

"  These will be assessed my me and an elite group of unknown badarses, and will include duels I witness, are involved in, and films that I have viewed of duels.  "  I might also add that duels that the other judges have been in.

So, those of you tards that automatically got your panties in an I hate SkyRock bunch, can simply pull them out while noones looking.  (and wash your hands afterwards) :aok

The duels will be submitted by film and there will be several suggestions on how to enhance your chances at winning in these duels.  I will not be the only one viewing the films or the only one giving feedback, this will be done by fellas that will slap the average MA'er to slapville and back with one hand tied behind their back.   You will not know who is giving you the advice as it will be anonymous.  There will be no ego involved in the assessment and it will be as honest and ehlpful as follows.  Look at it like getting your singing reviewed by Paula, Randy, and Simon! lolz

I'm more interested in where we can view some more of your wife beater t-shirt collection. The 08 slept in cowboy hat collection is another one I would be interested in seeing more of. I live in California so don't get much of a chance to lay my eyes upon that kind of apparel. Are they at WalMart yet ?
