Salute to the pilots we fought against last night

I have to give my hats off to Lizard3 last night.  We actually had things going we were taking bases and actually moving our front lines, we had a huge buff force but only 2 fighters for cover.  So I took the mean old Tempest up for cover, and I ran into him and another F4u close to the deck, he was in a D9 and gave me my money's worth.  Avoiding sweeps from behind with snap rolls, and putting myself behind the guns of a Chog.  Well I did ping him a couple times yet he continued on towards our Goons location, I could not let him get it.  The Chog was able to get behind me while I was messing with the 9, so I yanked her into orbit, when I did my loop there was the 9 coming at me.  Pitty a combat that had just taken place was abruptly ended with the collision of our wings.  I have to say that was the best 70 points I have given up so far.  The worst being a 7 kill run and running out of fuel 300 ft from the runway    We try and stay out of the furball island, but this base 22 I think ended up being one of the most hilarious base captures we have done yet.  Working it over for a good hour now with members of LJK and AK and a few others defense was stiff and the attack stalled out.  DG, Wotan, and I continued on, DG in the buff I in the fighter Wotan in the goon.  Wotan landed his goon about 4K off the runway DG had just finished deacking the base, we had a pesky yak, spit and a N1k coming up for us, after we smacked them down a couple times and losing a plane here and there, we were able to draw them off the base chasing a wounded buff.  Wotan radios in he is rolling into the base, and I thought rolling?  He rolled his goon the whole way there inching his way as the fighters were leaving the area.  As he captured the base the Yak was coming back from  dmg from the buff fight and flew right thru the AA.  Not quite sure on this one, chances are he thought the base was still his and DG got a much deserved kill.  Despite the odds we took the base, which led to our taking of 2 of 3 VH's on the main island 1 hour later.  Last night made me appreciate the fun and skill needed for capturing a base, furballs are fun and all but, only when it is fleet action or base capturing.  Salute the battles were fun as hell last night.

When I logged in last night the Knights were down. The previous 3 nights the Rooks have been down. It all depends on when you log in- unless you are Bishop.

What that means for us is,, we had a lot of territory, I logged on we have a lot less territory now    Dunno but hte late night Knight shift seems to be able to take the territory from them, as the day shift 7-11 workers come on they seem to say here is our terr for the taking we know the night crowd will give us better field advantage tomorrow.  Of those 78 how many were on furball island?

What I find usually is this: I log on, go to the low side. Usually the low side is getting mobbed by two huge blobs of red, overwhelming the thin defences of the fields- of course from both borders. I pick one and try to help blunt the attack. As the attack will include some bombers that will immediately drop the hangars the smartest thing to do to save the field is to survive. Just orbiting the area alive is enough in most cases to keep the goons away, and most usally even the M3's. They know darn well you will get them before the escort can get you in most cases. This usually buys just enough time for the ack or a hangar to come up. If you're lucky you will even get a lull where you can rearm and reup before the next wave arrives.

Amazing what ya can find hiding under a valley.  I think the best is finding the CV which has spent an eternity trying to sneak off a base, only to get sunk enroute to the target.  2 CV kills last night was well worth it, losing 4 88's to 1 CV was not though

Suicide?  I have yet to suicide anything.  Carrier was off the base to where I could come in low and drop torpedoes.  Have never sunk a CV before with torps and I wanted to see if it could be done.  Minus the fact I had fighters coming at me, I think 4 is not bad for a first time try.  So please do not categorize me with the car bombers.  LOL judging me and not even knowing me, the baffoon speaks before aknowledging his presence.  Good one whoever you are.

Last night was ok.  Didn't see any kind of focus on defending or taking back turf.  I know I was trying to help the effort to get 32 back and we seemed to be getting close.  Then the enemy CV pulled up and waves and waves of F4s just did a bang up job if swatting away any resitance.  The rook fleet was up near 33 for about an hour.  I couldn't get any other Knights to help me knock it out....made a few B-26 runs at it, but the defending C-Hogs used the spray-n-pray on me effectively    Logged a LOTTA chute time last night!

Wasn't on long, Knight chat buffer was getting pretty annoying and for some reason, no one cared a CV was steaming down our main island.  <shrug>  it happens.  Went off to the dueling arena and Rover3 and I did a few duels...Id fly Lanc and he'd try to shoot me down.  Basically practicing his technique and mine.  He hammered me good, but he saw the silk 3 times to my zero    Wrapped up the night taking an Arado up against his 109-a8.  After a while, he managed to get close enough to shut down an engine on me....and if it hadnt been for the fact it takes the length of California to slow the Arado, he wouldn't have got me on landing!!

That was my night

BD5, that carrier was sunk right after you left, brady and I upped in a 17 and a 26, a Chog got us both the first time, I reupped again and got the CV as it was turning.  Didn't matter 1 hour later the fight was still on for that base.

Sturm.

I did not read your post.  I did not read it because it is a solid BLOCK of text.  I'm not gonna wade through that.  Please use some spacing and formatting in your posts, it would make them a lot easier to read.  You know, use paragraphs and stuff.

I'm sure there is some good content in there.  Just please make it a bit easier to read.

<note use of paragraphs and spacing above>

Last night was very fun to me. Perhaps I wasn't clear enough- there were plenty of fights to be had. The only caveat for me was to make certain I stayed alive until the hangars popped up again. The only reason I didn't kill more was I just couldn't seem to hit anything (I need to focus on one plane type for a while to regain gunnery).

Finally, I logged only because my connects worsened dramatically all of a sudden, and I won't fly under those circumstances. I feel it is unfair for me to be a "warpy bastige" to all around me.

Yes, it was quite fun, and I helped deny the land grabbers their real estate.

Aye, sometimes I forget about the old paragraphs and such.  I start typing and well forget to hit enter.  I will pay close attention to this in the future.  Thanks for pointing this out.
