I was listening to a comic this morning who suggests that obama should select a person of mexican descent as a running mate, the implication being that if obama were assasinated the new president would open the southern border.  I was laughing at the thought of this, pretty funny stuff.

I fail to understand why all the vitriol towards this intelligent and articulate man.  he's not even really black.  the reason why I can't support him is his overwhelmingly liberal voting record and his lack of integrity.  the man is a hustler and nothing more.

I think this will come down to a presidential race that will further divide the nation along blue/red party lines.  I think obama will do well in the blue states that don't have a large woodchuck population and he will do awfully poorly everywhere else.

Obama's promise to pull out of Iraq immediately only makes sense if it is in the nation's best interest for us to pull out immediately.  I'm not convinced that it is.

Building a nation from scratch is not easy...just look at our own history.  It took more than a decade to work out all of our problems and inter-state bickering before we were able to write the Constitution and formulate a stable government.

With casualties at their lowest rate since the Iraq war began, progress is apparently being made...   but attempts to resolve differences between Sunni and Shi-ite factions are still ongoing, and U.S. forces are needed to help further stabilize the situation and finish the rebuilding of Iraq's infrastructure.

As McCain and others have pointed out, exiting prematurely would dishearten our allies and encourage our enemies in the region.  We need to finish the job, if for no other reason than to avoid both of those consequences....and to show the world that we finish what we start, and cannot be side-tracked by election year rhetoric.

Unfortunately the best opportunity anyone had to get rid of him--Violation of Constitutional authority via separation of powers (the precedent was set during LBJ's administration, I believe) by illegally bypassing the courts with the unilateral ordering of warrantless wire-tapping--there was a Republican majority in Congress.

Funny how life works out, isn't it?

No statute of limitations on that is there? Dems have Congress now... why don't they take action?

Yeah...and while they're at it, the Dem's can investigate all those nasty rumors about voting corruption in Illinois and Texas during the election of 1960.

Cant argue that. And here we are in 08...no choice again.

Of course you have a choice.

Barr is running as a Libertarian, Chuck Baldwin is running under the Constitutional Party and you can always write in Paul or Kucinich.

When do we decide that we're mad as hell and we're not going to take this crap anymore? When do we stop voting against someone and start voting FOR someone that represents our views? When do we finally show these two corrupt, worthless national parties that we demand better?

not everyone thinks we should leave Iraq for the cheekboness in Iran ... to leave now only invites a future larger disaster - too bad too many sitcom junkies think every conflict in the world can't be over in a 30 minute show or 2 month season premiere .. most great things involve even greater sacrifices than many seem to be able to stomach.
Leaving now would do NOTHING but make it EVERYTHING worse ... so sorry, we are there for the VERY long haul - best get used to it.
