resricted access to Wishlist
« on: June 04, 2008, 10:00:33 AM »
how about restricting new topics in the wishlist forum to members registered for over say 2 months, that way we dont get so many of the "I dont understand the game properly, havent bothered to learn it, get training or read the forums, but still want the gameplay radically altered to make it easier for me" posts?

I do not think access to any part of the boards should be restricted.  Sometimes out of the mouths of new pilots wisdom can be spouted.  I know there is the odd fellow that has no clue or is griping, but hey veteran pilots do the same thing all the time don't they?

If you see a topic you don't like, just ignore it.  I should hope that everyone on these forums is mature enough to do this (no offence intended).
Afk for a year or so.  The name of a gun turret in game.  Falanx, huh?
Apparently I'm in the 20th FG 'Loco Busters', or so the legend goes.

Yes.  Alot of nonsense gets posted in the forum by newbies.  But i don't think AH takes it any more seriously than we do.  For the most part, a really bad idea is pretty much self evident.  And experience is no guarantee of insight or wisdom.
I can tell you this much.  I enjoy forum discussions with other players (especially the Wish List), as much as i do playing in the MA.  So i don't see AH wanting to "Restrict" the participation of new players, who after all have paid to be here.  A golf course wouldn't be in business very long if EVERY player had to qualify just to play a round of golf.  Instead you can play, even if it takes you 15 or 20 strokes to play through a par 5 hole.

What would be good though is if someone was starting a topic that has been reposted  over say 25 times, as soon as the post button is pressed, the  search feature automatically kicks in, as if you did it manually.

You don't seem to recognize the OP's fairly specifically referring to you.

I agree...
Maybe we wouldn't have so many 'I wantzz t3h n00000k!11!!!eleven!!' posts :]

phpBB3 has a MOD where you can set an amount of posts in which a member can post in that forum. So, if you set the "Wishlist" forum to minimum of 10 posts, the user has to make 10 posts elsewhere before he can post in that forum.
