Growing up, my mother used to breed Shepherds. We used to train them in Shutzhund. Some for ourselves and some for the Reading, PA state police barracks.
There isn't much more of a warm fuzzy feeling than 100 lbs. of muscle armed with a mouthful of teeth that:
Follows you at your heel wherever you go
Stays put where you tell it to, until you give it its next command
Only knows German
Only takes commands from its handler
Can track anything you want it to from a scent sample
Will attack OR break off an attack at your voice command.
Amazing animal. Like a warm fuzzy soldier that will do anything for you.
I miss mine. I had him for 8 years, til his hips started going bad and Ihad to put him down (occupational hazard)
