Funny, we get all this crap about drilling being bad for the environment. And yet we've had one major accident involving Alaska, and it was a ship, not an oil ring, pumping station, or pipeline. So instead of the U.S. doing the majority of the drilling in the Gulf of Mexico, China will do it off the coast of Cuba. If CHINA screws up, and wrecks the environment, guess who will clean it up, who will suffer the consequences environmentally, and who will pay for it? Yep, the the U.S. But guess who will still get all the oil, cheap? Yep, China and Cuba. Go figure.
The oil in the Gulf of Mexico WILL get drilled and pumped. But I guess it's better for China and Cuba to control it and reap the benefits. But we'll take all the risks, and pay more for oil, too.
