Funny : no Vbases but GVs spawn points from airbases very close to enemy bases...more ground actions in that release...

Not a very inspiring terrain.

Still, it works.

Yuck. Perhaps they thought today was April 1 and not March 1.  So this means then end of trying to find the enemy cv. I mean heck it's gotta be somewhere in the middle. No more sneaking the cv around the south west corner of the enemy island. Wow..what are they thinking.  This is ridiculous.

Actually I'm referring to the fact that cv operations will be quite diminished. Where's the fun and effort into finding the enemy cv now? No longer have to worry about an enemy cv sneaking up the backside of your main island. This is ridiculous. I see less and less emphasis being put on pacific operations in the future....

I look at carriers as portable airfields.  I like em cause they put ya close to the action.   Just make it harder to sink the carrier.

<shrug>

I don't see any problems yet. I do think the map is "odd" and a bit different from what we're used to.

  But!

 At the same time I can easily see much more CV-to-CV action (including three-way battles), more CV-to-land action but in no way wil we see the assinine "CV captured and hidden" crap. I also see plenty of land action too. In this map there is more capability for what we did not see in the last. More GV fights, more ETO style combat as well as plenty of PAC flavoured fighting.

It looks very interesting.  It won't be a cakewalk to drive in and smack an HQ on this map!  It looks very much more balanced.

fscott, I expected a map that wasn't totally based around the CV groups like the last one.  The last map was no fun for the vehicle guys, since it was all islands.  This map still includes the cv's, but is much more open for the ground warriors among us.  I think you will see a tour to tour oscillation in terms of the style of arena to keep things fresh.  Ok, so you like to play hide-the-cv... great, but not everybody does.  I'm sure you can expect every second tour or so to be a more CV focused.  I think that's reasonable.

Frankly, I'm glad of it.  I was getting pretty tired of carrier battles all the time.  It was time for a change.  This terrain looks much more even for all starting positions, which is a welcome change.

I look forward to seeing how this plays, it looks well balanced.
