Flight model question / joystick calibration
« on: November 26, 1999, 09:28:00 AM »
Hello all

I seem to be having problem with a proper joystick calibration.

Every time I do the slightest movement, the stall goes on, whatever the speed.

Every time I do the slightest movement with speed built up, I black out.

And these are VERY slight movement

Since this is my office machine, the joystick is a cheap one but still. P200, 64M of RAM, ATI rage Pro 8 megs.

Also, the deadband in pitch seems to vary a lot if you are trimmed on level or not.

Trimmed (X) & flying strait - big deadband
Flying non trimmed after a couple of turns, normal deadband.

So............. How do I calibrate the joystick to get a good fell for the sim? I can take off and land OK

However every small movements seems like I am pulling 9G  )

Also, the noses are too bouncy when you retrim ?? Are noses suppose to bounce ??

I would like to fight, but first I need to turn. ( reasonably fast )

So, how do you guys set-up your joysticks to to turn fast & not black out or stall with slight movements.

On the bright sight. Boy, does this game have potential.

Have fun

When you calibrate in AH, just select SETUP, JOYSTICK, and then Calibration. Perform the calibration.  After the calibration, look at the graph for spiking and high deflections.  Move your Joystick, rudders, and throttle to the limits.  Watch for major jumps in the graph line.

I calibrate my joystick using Wbstick about once a week and cailbrate my joystick using the AH calibration every other time I log on.

Good Luck
