Okay, this may be something I have never heard of before, but were the shVAK cannons on the La5n reputed for their incredible spread? I ask because I did some testing off line today and I swear those 20mm have a spread of darn near half the upper portion of my gunsight.
Using max zoom I fired on the runway both in bursts and in steady stream. Discounting "falling" tracers in the background on my 1040x780 screen the shVAK cannons had a spread of approx 2 centimeters from their centerpoint. the FW190 was a spread of approx .5 centimeters, the hispano .75 centimeters and the 109 about .75 centimeters. I tested all using only the Cannons no machine guns.
2 things confused me, the La5n has a huge spread compared to the others, it can be almost anywhere in a 2 centimeter range of where it is aimed. The second is that the FW has a noticably smaller spread than the 109. Didn't they have the same cannons? I guess it might just be the amount of fire from the Fw tricking my eye.
One other wierd thing, none of the other cannons I tested had a noticable sideways dispersion. Most of theirs was up and down. The La5n has it all over the place.
