instant blackouts..

had a wierd situation today.

I was mixing it up with a KI84 in a spit 9 at about 10K..

I was in a hard turn trying to get behind him.. on the edge of blackout of course...

then I blacked out.. relaxed the stick..  and it stayed black for about 5 seconds.. and it came back..  I decided to level out, I started a gentle roll right.. BOOM total blackout again...  this time for about 6 or 7 solid seconds..

then I came too...   still flying more or less straight at about 320..  I hit autopilot  BOOM blackout again, again for several seconds.. i came to and was straight and level (autopilot).. i just sat there for.. perhaps 5 or 6 more seconds.....   pulled the stick to disengauge autopilot and begin to turn.. BOOM.. total blackout..



long story short, I eventually augered, every time I gave even the slightest input i would immediately totally blackout..  this went on for a good while.. I would engage the autopilot, blackout from doing so... then wait several seconds after I "came to" turn off the AP..  try and roll a little.... go to total blackout.. come back..  hit Autopilot.... total blackout...


I dont know what became of the KI84


I have never had that happen like that before...  I know if you fully blackout and then try rapid stick movements as soon as you regain concensious, you will black out again, im familiar with that..  but this was different.. even after several seconds of just sitting there after the blackout was over..  any movement still brought instant blackout..
I cant reproduce it either

it was frustrating to say the least, I cant get it to do it again, musta been a flook.

Blackouts are cumulative. Ride the edge to long you black out easier and longer.

Wingnutt, I get this all the time in the Dora. Once I recover from the initial blackout, if I make an input too soon after recovery, I get a second blackout. Everytime.

You experienced a blackout. Yah, when you wake up..you go back down for about 2 seconds......just long enough to be massively annoying.

Solution: Don't pull high G's at high speed.

ok.... its because as u start turning, blood rushes to your head.... which causes u 2 black out..... which is y now in days, they got suits that use like air pressure or somtin, and constrict to slow the blackout affect

actually, it's the other way 'round. when you pull a high g turn, the blood rushes AWAY from your head. i think somewhere in the ballpark of 5 or 6 G's is where the average pilot will black out.
