Arena reset Perk awards!

Describing the patch due out today, Pyro stated:

Changed the perk system to award points to the country that wins the war, i.e., the country that owns the most when a reset is forced. The current award is
set to 20 fighter points, 20 bomber points, and 20 vehicle points for every person on the winning side. To be eligible for the points, you must be in the country for the amount of time required before you can switch countries again.

I think that is a great idea!  Finally a sim gives a real, positive incentive to forcing a reset.   I'm anxious to see how this affects side-balancing.  When I fly, usually the Knights have the most pilots, followed by the Bishops, with the Rooks lagging behind.   Will everyone switch to fly Knights, because they consistently have numbers to force a reset?  Will the Rooks turn into permanent whipping boys, with every arena reset at their expense?

It may make sense to tie the perk points awarded to the numbers-balance ratio.  i.e.,
less points would be awarded as the sides become more imbalanced...

Changing sides would be pretty pointless, as you have to be in country for 12hrs or longer to get the perk points for forcing a reset.

Also the winner is whoever holds the most bases, not who actually forces the reset.  This will do away with, in part, the constant gangbanging.  When a reset starts getting close I think the 2 smallest (holdings wise) countries will jump on the biggest one, one trying to prevent a reset and the other trying to be the one with the most bases at the reset.

Should make for a verra interesting change in arena dynamics.

When we finnally get a perk plane (the Tempest is already being worked on), I beleave the idea is that a country that has a severe manpower shortage will suddenly have the perk plane costs turned off.

This is a very good play balancing idea, particularily since one team ALWAYS winning creates a catch-22 situation, where they win, atracting more point seeking players, and win even more and more.  I've asked for something similar for along time now.

Hans.

Ummm... I don't think it will be very good idea. Country with lesser numbers could just let enemy take their fields so they could fly perk planes all day long. And idead of country about to lose war being able to produce high number of superior planes is quite unrealistic. In fact, it could be better to disable perk planes for such country
