impossible shots?
« on: June 14, 2008, 11:55:44 AM »
I dont have any film and because it could be a fluke I will not mention the name.

But anyway this is what happened and I do not believe that it is possible. This same thing happened a couple of months ago twice in one week with the same name.

I am flying along at an altitude of 7500 feet agl and climbing at 2500'/min and an indicated airspeed of 190.
Suddenly I take one hit and the rear stab is gone.  I immediately hit the silk and look around and see nothing except an enemy V-base 7500' below me and appoxomately 2k off to starboard of my location.  (there was no tracer stream that I saw) A few minutes later the "guilty party" lands 2 kills in a field gun and of course it is a name I have never seen before.  A little later I see the same name land 2 kills yet again.  I check the stats for this party and see a gunnery statistic for him of 129% accuracy.  (dunno how greater than 100% is even possible in a  field gun, but thats what the stats showed)

Now I dont make any claims of being an expert gunner or even any sort of great AH player, but this smacks of impossibility to me.  At least without *cough* Cough* help *cough*.

Anyone else seen any of this lately?  And am I totally off base to be suspicious of this?

Field guns can reach out over 4,000 yards. You were at 2,500 yards if you were at 7,500 feet and even with horizontal seperation you were within range. I've hit bombers flying overhead at over 3K where their indicated alt on their altimeter would be 9,000+ feet.

No real mystery here, just a bit of luck, also, scores don't reflect ground gun accuracy and only the overall kill stats show ground gun kills.

I've hit with a mk103 at d800 a few times so I wouldn't be surprised if the shot you thought was impossible really wasn't

does the 262 have a mk108?

i hit Lyric1 in his tempest from about 8-900 yards a while back.

I didn't say 30mm can't do that.

I just stated you didn't hit with a Mk 103 at D800.
And actually no one ever did that in AH...  ;)

indeed it was, and mostly luck.  from the begginer who srpays and misses from 200 yards to the other end to those who can spray from 800 yards and hit something vital sometimes, is there not then a scale of skill for even spray n pray?

how is this for 'aimbot' ?

spray n pray.ahf file 1MB

Lol wait what's the difference between the 103 and 108

The difference is about 360 m/s.
(And 235% greater gun weight too)

(source: http://www.quarry.nildram.co.uk/WW2guneffect.htm)

the left 30mm shell is from a Mk 108, the right is from a MK 103

(BTW, the left 37mm round is fired by the P39, the right 37mm by the Yak-9T)

One of the Jokers tried to run from my 109k in an La7 - set his butt on fire from 1000 out today, suprised there hasn't been a whine posted about an impossible shot yet.
