What makes you think that all new players are noobs?  I can tell you without waiting for a reply that many (if not most) new players are not noobs - you only notice the ones that are, those that aren't don't even come to your attention.
Afk for a year or so.  The name of a gun turret in game.  Falanx, huh?

Yes, but there's a lot of players who don't do this.  You don't notice them because they never come to your attention.  Whilst I fully understand where you're coming from, it would be very unfair to those players who were not noobs.

Perhaps a better alternative would be to allow more experienced players to "nominate" a noobish player (one who asked such questions repeatedly) to be sent into the TA for a period, until a trainer had worked with him long enough to consider him ready to move back to the MA (he could do this by perhaps selecting an option on the roster).

I think this could be done if HTC added an option that appeared when you right-clicked a player's name on the roster which said "Nominate to send to Training Arena", and for the Trainer "Allow to return to Main Arenas".

1. Who determines what a "more experienced" player is in the first place? Every player playing for some times? If yes how long? And how does that qualify anyone for determining who should be "send back" = essentially kicked off the game? There are countless players without a clue that's been playing for years. I don't want to see them gettign any power over other players.

2. If you would send "n00bs" back to the TA, you would have to guarrantee a Trainer being there for them all the time. Where would you get all that trainers for mandatory training sessions? What's about players that live in different timezones, thus flying at offpeak  times? When I first ever logged into AH2, the TA was empty. That's also the reason why I hate reading that standard "Go TA answer" during offpeak hours...

3. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. A day in TA would't accomplish anything if people would just fool around until that day is over.

4. This idea is silly from the start... do that "n00bs" hurt you? If you aren't willing to help, you can always .squelch.

How often is there even a trainer in the TA to dump- err, send - such people to?

I was making my idea based on the assumption that the basics of Pannono's post were unchanged, except for that it would not be mandatory.  If there were enough trainers, and if they had enough time, and if they covered sufficient time zones, and if they were willing to do so, and if a system were implemented to ensure that people used the system responsibly, then I think it would probably work.

I dunno, I don't think the Ta 152 is a good aircraft for noobs.

How about the first time online they get a TA only at the arena select screen. Soon as they back out all arenas are listed.

I'm still of the opinion that, in addition to the TA as a fully dedicated training arena, each of the other arenas – EW, MW, and both LWs – could add one un-captureable "training base" for each chess piece, somewhere back around each HQ.

Those three bases could be coded so that:

1) Any plane that takes off from the training base and stays within the radar circle is immune to enemy fire. In other words, enemy planes that attack training base planes within the radar circle experience "Kill Shooter." So, training planes have to stay within the circle, and there's no incentive for others to bother them. But as soon as training planes leave the radar circle they are fair game.

2) Any plane that takes off from the training base, leaves the radar circle and tries to shoot down an enemy outside the radar circle experiences "Kill Shooter." Same with ordinance. That way no missions can be launched from the training base. It is strictly for basic training.

3) Any noob with say 1 month or less of time in AH who goes to the training base causes it to start flashing to let people know there's a noob looking for help. Put a link on the clipboard for "Training Base." Vets could go to the training base but it would not flash.

In my opinion, even in off hours, someone may be willing to take a few minutes to help the less experienced. It would be much more convenient if that help could be given without having to leave the arena to go to the TA.

True, some people will never read online guides, or attempt to contact trainers, but some do and still need various levels of assistance. In that case I think this idea has merit. Trainers wouldn't have to wait around in an empty TA, but could participate in the game until a noob requests help, and then just click once to get to the training base instead of several to get to the TA.

My 2 cents...

Yes, and you know what you do? You be polite to them, and tell them how to take off. Offer them to go to the Training Arena to get help. Offer to take them there yourself to help them. Then HTC has another player using up his 15$$ a month so CT can be added 2 weeks earlier.  :noid

Dont be a player who tells them to eff off and that HTC doesnt want them. Look at War Birds... I tried playing that, asked for help got two "UP YOURS NOOB!!" and one guy to help me.  :aok

I always offer them Web sites to read up on and tell them to us the offline or online training to there advantage. I don't like the idea because if you think about it how many times would the sqeekers get sent to the TA just to shut 'em up  :D
