The reasoning to my award given.

My flight was abandoned by two squads who were to help us, the 55th & the Isle of Misfits Toys.  The AK's stepped up and because they attended FSO w/ high numbers and were heading to the same island, they took it upon themselves to escort & diverge attacks on our heavy SBD's.

The communication among their group and good tactical thinking helped the VF-6 (aka FIGHTING 31) on our mission.  They helped to detour the enemy and went above and beyond while successfully completing their objectives.

The AK's have always taken FSO very seriously, while they are quite capable of being as egotistical, self centered and "Gamey" as any of us (individually) once you put two together they are a squad and individual wants/needs magically become secondary. Once you find an AK look over your shoulder because invartiably there will be a second (and maybe more) parked somewhere close.

Put them in FSO and it goes one step further, the AK's have always taken pride in every aspect of FSO. They never put them selfs above the mission or ignore there assignment to freelance. Once in FSO they are one of the squads that goes beyong being a squad and is an integral part of a team.

One of the truely great squads in the game :salute
