More suspensions on the way
« on: June 16, 2008, 08:37:06 PM »
I want to be perfectly clear about this.

You guys are going to play FSO by our rules. or you are not going to be in the event.

PERIOD!

I don't care if I have to remove half of the squads and we go back to 200 people in FSO. That is fine with me.

Translation .... we had another round of violations in frame 2. Basically the majority of one squad.

I have sent you all the squads COs, XOs and in some cases third contact person the objectives for the frame. I have moved the Special Rules to the top of the objectives so that they are read. I have posted the objectives on the AH forums and sled had another thread about violations in frame 2 on the board.

It is the responsibility of your COs, XOs or the third contact person for your squad to make sure your pilots understand the rules of the frame. In particular the 2nd life rule. I am posting objectives publicly because it seems that quite a few COs / XOs / etc. are not informing their pilots of the rules or making sure they know them. Hopefully somebody will read this and tell the pilots in their squad .. no you can't do that it is against the rules when somebody says .. hey fields are open lets up fighters again.

The violations in frame 2 that I am not talking are not about upping and when your comrades inform you that you only get one life and to land or auger now you doing it. Everyone makes mistakes and if you spawn or up and come right back down once informed you are violating the rules I am willing to cut you some slack.

I am not talking about those people who did get second lives upping in the wrong plane type (say SBD when they meant to be in something else).

I am talking about people who have been shot down upping in fighters later in the frame or manning the guns of bases and ships and actually engaging the enemy.

Let me make things perfectly clear who gets second lives:

- Only those on the Japanese side that flew B5N2s get second lives.
- Only those on the Japanese side who manned the ships for the surface aciton get second lives.
- Only those on the Allied side who manned the ships for the surface action get second lives.

NOBODY ELSE GETS SECOND LIVES EVEN IF THE FIELDS ARE OPEN.

Make this crystal clear to your rank and file.   When somebody goes hey the fields are open at X the bulk of your pilots should be going .. not that is against the rules land now or auger!

Sled has alread suspended 11 individual pilots from 4 different squads over this from frame 1. There is no excuse whatsoever for this to happen again in frame 2. Sled will be contacting the appropriate squad(s) with additional suspensions / actions

:huh :huh I thought they got it the first time. Maybe you should make it the first thing on the arena message in Frame 3? Or say it out loud again and again?

Yah, I will ask Mystic2 or have one of the other CMs announce it before launch in frame 3 since nope not everyone got it. This time it was one squad where the majority of the squad upped and fought again.

I hope this was a newer squad and not a veteran squad that did this.

It's hard to understand how this could still happen with all the talk and warnings that have been going on as of late about this issue, it just shows very poor communication among a squad.

:noid Or just a gross negligence of the rules, or blatant insubordination.  I have only participated in 4 of these events, but it seems as if the "problems" are increasing with the numbers of participants.  But I also agree with Kermit that the FSO just seems to keep getting better when it comes to the game play and strategic planning.  :salute I only have admiration for those of you that have to run and police this event!   :rock You Rock!

They appreciate hearing that jammerz. It is a LOT of work for them and often a real pain.

Posts, e-mails, and PM's from players telling them how much fun they had is their reward. :)

May I suggest an age limit for CO's and XO's of squads? I have been talking with a few of the younger CO's, and they have not even read the rules yet they were allowed to form a squad for FSO. It seems like the old saying, A few bad apples will spoil the bunch.

Who were these squads who told you that?
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

Younguns not reading the rules I have not come across. Not reading the ORDERS on the other hand I have.  Had escort duty last FSO and the bomber group we were in charge of was lead by a youngun and hit the wrong target even though I told them several times what the actually objective was. I was told that the objectives were changed.... So it is entirely possible the don't read the rules either. From what I have read of the logs the offenders are not young though.  Lay the hammer Sled.  :salute
