Geez son, I was a history major, United States Studies, with a minor in Military History. I served in the US Navy, logging over 2,300 flight hours totaled on the "yellow sheets". I have 332 traps aboard fleet carriers. I crewed the last operational sortie of a US Navy amphibian in 1976 (out of GTMO). Since 1996, I have worked with the Navy and Army developing new small arms systems, spending countless hours on military ranges testing weapons. I am lead Project Engineer for these systems, working for CIRCOR Aerospace.

In point of fact, I just returned from severals of meetings with Senatorial staff, brass at the Pentagon and Department of Homeland Security, showing and demonstrating new technology for the M4/M16 family of rifles and carbines. In July, I'll be at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Crane, Indiana to test SOCOM's (Special Operations Command) new SCAR battle rifles (Mk16 and Mk17). This is only a small fraction of my dealing with the military. Next week, we will be testing a brace of Sig P229s for DHS.

I work with military personnel every day, most of them senior officers.

In this game, there are WWII veterans, Korean War vets, Vietnam vets and a boat load of Gulf War, Iraqi Freedom and Afghan vets. We have Mace, a career F-14 pilot, graduate of Top Gun and the Navy Test Pilot School. We have Hammer, a career Army Officer, who recently retired. Overall, there are hundreds, if not thousands of military veterans who play this game or have played in the past. Many of these gents were on the pointy end of the spear, in harms way for months at a time.

To claim that your experience is sufficient to grant you the privilege of castigating fellow players is utter nonsense. This isn't war, it's recreation. It's entertainment after a hectic day. The last thing most of us want to listen to is a another self-appointed Field Marshal telling us how we should expend our limited recreational time.

Thus, even if your grand daddy was Omar Bradley, we don't want to listen to your rants. Your military experience, commendable as it is, has no bearing on a game, nor does it provide you additional status as a player.

My regards,

Widewing

Widewing - While I support everything you say with the up most respect - this kid will not understand with any slightest clue what you said.
Even if his grand daddy was Omar Bradley or even Black Jack Pershing - If there was an automatic squelch - he'd be on my list.
The only reason anyone enters my squelch list, is the fact he has proven time and TIME again is basically A) I feel he has no military experience in his life B) lives in moms basement or C) well its ok some don't get laid and I feel for ya bro - but seriously there are magazines to overcome this experience vandals. It might not fix the problem, but JEEEEZ READ A MAG OR TWO.

Seriously I do respect anyone with more time "experienced" in this video game - m00t, widewing, MntMan - I could go for a few good hours, but seriously vandals nobody cares whether a "base" is taken or not - its the fun of the game and if you think you are a 4 star general well then prove it and take 15 outa 15 bases a night or then just shut up already.
Same for guys like DrDeathx - I am not going to De-ack a base just because you are a squeaking arm chair general - I am really sick
of listening to your insults because you think you are better then me. I am a regular player as ANYONE ELSE THAT PAYS. Seriously I don't care to win a "war" in a video game - I just care to to do what I want with the time I spent and paid for.

Just remember one little detail: we all spend our money a different way - some want to furball - some want to take bases, just don't cry
because you are unable to win a medal of honor and show your basement girlfriend your worth more then anyone else.

Edited: im sure i will get a week vacation from the forums for this skuzzy, but try not to make it perm  :aok

Damn widewing....

You just demostrated to people total pwnage WITH correct grammer.  :lol

p.s. Did you ever work in the pentagon in the early 1990s? My dad was a big guy in the pentagon who re-wrote the way the U.S. identifies, classifys, something else about casualties. Maybe you knew him. (I'm not sure exactly but I know it had to do with casualties and re-writing the system)

BTW, I'm always puzzled how some little generals do think they will get more support and better gameplay  with constant and regular cussing and insulting of their own team.
I think that's the Tripl5 School of Motivation: Don't say anything positive! If you wanna help, call them names!

I thought Patton built a career on it :D

And he still hasnt posted any facts about his military career other then he says he was in Germany and Greece.

Strange, I wasnt aware we had any US Army bases in Greece and I cant find any record of one using the Internet. Maybe he was in one of those top secret type units. :uhoh

I always thought our military presence in Greece, Turkey, and Spain, was always limited to USAF and maybe USN. There is one exception, and one systems exception. But I dont believe PATRIOT was deployed in Greece and Turkey until the late '90s.
