22nd Pnzr Div. Sd Kfz 251
« on: June 18, 2008, 08:51:48 AM »
I've been working on this panzer grey Sd Kfz 251. It based on a vehicle from the 22nd Panzer Division on the Don Front in the summer of 1942. In November of that year this division was virtually wiped out during the Soviet Army's offensive to encircle Stalingrad.

Extremely nice.

That looks GREAT keep up the work. Quick question, does hi tech allow the flag to be placed over the hood or rear of a tank. You know the 1 the germans put on vehicles some times so that the luftwaffe wouldn`t think they were enemy vehicles. I thought it be cool to see and an easy thing to add to pre-exixting skins also. :salute

And the flag you're thinking of certainly did.

Third Reich Battle Flag:

A possibility would be to remove the swastika from the flag and just have a white circle or a white circle with a blacked-out diamond like on the tail empenage of the default 152 skin.

It could be a nice touch if it was done well.

They didn't use the Battle Flag as an Air Identification Marker - they used the National Flag as seen here in the picture.

If you want to use it in the skin - simply put an Iron Cross in the middle instead of a Swastika - it most likely will pass.

Thanks guys. I'm not keen on putting a flag on this skin though. I'll probably do a winter camo and also an Afrika Korps 251 some time down the line, maybe I'll find a photo of one of those with a flag draped over it.

Call of Duty (the original) had a custom server where they had this flag draped over the front of their SDKs, but simply replaced the swastika with another Iron Cross. Just a thought.

I thought the flag be a easy thing to add to skins. The swastika is on a few german planes in the game.I don`t think anyone would be offended if it was more common to see, after all this is a ww2 game. Keep up the great work Greebo I certainly appreciate it. <<S>>

There are no swastikas in the game. I have heard that the symbol is outlawed in some countries so they won't put it in. A you would be very surprised at what would offend some people. Greebo said he didn't like it for this model, but he might for the deasert camo one he is thinking about doing.

Those are not Nazi swastikas, the swastika was the roundel of the Finnish Air Force as well, actually IIRC the FAF adopted the swastika as their roundel before the Nazi party.
