My debut album now available
« on: June 18, 2008, 03:07:13 PM »
Hey, ya'all.  My debut album, "Home, God, and Country", is now out and available for purchase and download at www.cdbaby.com/cd/richowen .  You can listen to 2 minutes of each song at the link.  You can also listen to six of the songs from the album in the entirety at www.myspace.com/richowen61, download the song "What of Them" for free, and purchase downloads of other individual songs.

"Home, God, and Country" won the Colorado Country Music Association's Album of the Year, Modern Country" for 2008.  Two of the songs on the album won CCMA first place awards in their categories: "The Man They Need Me To Be" for Modern Country Songwriting, and "We're the Ones" for best Patriotic Song.

Give the a listen, and buy the album if you like what you hear.  Thanks.

Gosh, Sudz, I can't imagine why not  .  Your album sounds like a sure-fire hit to me ;).  And thanks.

Congrats Sabre! Got your email too yesterday.  Won't be long before you'll be forced to retire from real work in order to keep up with your tours. :)

I wish! Not quitting my day job just yet, though.  I enjoy eating too much.  However, you never know...

Hmm... Ironically, I'm starting to get my band together in Austin. Which is awesome cuz I'm 20 miles away from the Music Capitol of the World. Hopefully, I can get my things kicked off there.

That's what it's known as around here. Every place you go there has a band playing. Not just bars either. Last time I was there, they were setting up for some big warped tour concert, with some kid band from Austin opening for it infront of like 2000 people. Easy way to get a start.

Austin isn't the music capital of the world, it's the live music capital of the world.

Sounds like a nice album sabre, good luck with it!

Wow Rich!
I'm going to get this in now: "I knew your when"...  (you had glasses, a buzzcut, wore a USAF uniform and were more of a geek than a redneck :) )

I'm a pretty far stretch from being a country music fan, but I did listen to the six songs on your myspace page...  That sounds like "real" country music; I don't know how you do it man.

Way to go

Thanks again, guys.  And thank you, too, Eskimo. Yeah, you give a pretty good description of me back when we were in the Buccaneers together.  Amazing what retiring from the Air Force can do, eh?   :salute  Writing music was certainly the last thing I figured I'd wind up doing as a hobby (let along making any money at ).  Anyway, I appreciate the support, and if you like what you hear, please purchase the CD or the album download.  Now if I can just get Sean Hannity to play "What of Them" or "We're the Ones" on air, I'd be set :pray :pray :pray. And yes, I sent him a copy :D.

Sabre........ congrats ... I really enjoyed listening to it.  Best of luck with it.

If I could offer two things that stuck out as I was listening:

1. "The Man They Need Me To Be" .. the guitar needs to be potted down...it's far too dominant, and takes away from the vocals and melody.

2. "Don't Give Up On Me"  BEST song of the bunch...has a lot of commercial appeal ...but it's SCREAMING for a fiddle/violin solo...
