P-38s were the 49ths choice Eagler. That's our squad bird, we could have flown anything we wanted. It takes nothing away from the fact JG-54 won hands down.
Besides, it's not their skill that's ever been questioned or criticized.

I think the K4/G14 matchups favor the 109 but the 38s would match up well with the G6's IMO. In a 1 on 1 its a bigger mismatch but in a 4 on 4 the 38 has alot of advantages. It has better survivability for gas/oil/radiator hits as well as better "vision" in the event of an oil hit. It also has 2 vertical slabs and better punch....especially at longer ranges. In a 4 on 4 I can see a gaggle of cripples by the end with the 38 being a more survivable bird vs the 109.

my guess it that you started at equal alt .. being da and all
you lost before you started flying that barn against anyone with the slightest idea of how to fly the 109 .. and a few 54's have alittle more than just an idea :)
 I think even storch can kill a 38 in a 109 LOL
