Fear the M-8

Good story,
I was defending a town from LVTs when i noticed the CV was getting awfully close so i decided to take my M-8 and try and start shelling it. I shot about 4 shells off all where short so i aimed high and got a direct hit. And what do you know i sunk the CV in a M-8. I can't remember where i was but i got a picture i Can post, i just gotta figure out how to.

Sunk it with one hit? Perhaps the CV was soft from earlier encounter with Shore Battery or other CV battle. 

In any case, killing a CV from a GV is always fun.  But shame on other team for letting the CV get that close to shore...  I mean, cripes, planes can fly, and a ship's 8" guns can shoot lots farther than GV guns.

But that's neither here nor there.  Every once in a while I get into the driving spirit, with the speed and fast reload, the M8 should be feared!  Somebody like dr7 or VansCrew type can be very deadly.  I'm not quite there yet.

I love the M-8!  Especially when the horde of Ostwinds and Wirblewinds roll over the hill to kill the town....pop goes their turrets before the are even in range!

Need to nutralize that tunnel visioned panzy rolling toward you GV base?  M8 will do the trick.

Need to catch that M3 that got past the flank and is racing towards the Town for a capture?  M8 can run him down.

Need to ambush that M4 with the turret as tough as iron!  M8 point blank in the side armour....3 hits and its done.

I don't think I have ever seen DR7 in an M8.  He drives the M4 almost exclusively.    And when you can shoot like he can with the thing....why drive anything else?    Vanscrew?  he tanks?  ha ha ha ha.


I have managed to kill just about everyone of GV noteworthiness on both the "bish and rook" in my M8.   The biggest threat to the M8 is all those pesky Typhy's, Niki's, Spixteens, IL2's and 110s that flatten the tires and make it a sitting duck ;-(

bah,  killed many and only been killed 2 or 3 times by an M-8, bothersome yes in the right hands, but no name comes to mind as being that bothersome and good in a M-8.   probly will take 2 or 3 tours of killing people to get a name known in one, like any good GV player.

   Speaking of LVT's and something to fear, take a look at the LVTA4 with its 75mm howitzer.  The other night one of our CV's was deep into enemy territory, severly damaged and about to sink (all the guns were dead).   Always looking for an opportunity to exploit CV's to their maximum, I noticed it was fairly close to the enemies city hex.  So I launched a LVTA4 for a little final harassment.
   When I reached the city I opened fire with the 75mm gun and was immediately astonished at the results.  The gun was devestating on soft targets like houses.  One shot took out 3-4 buildings each time I fired.  Guess I never noticed it before with nme towns, because these are usually pretty much degraded by the time an LVT gets there.   The buildings have already been straffed and bombed.  But this city hex was untouched at 100 % when I attacked.  I was also amazed at the speed of the cycle rate of this gun.   It shoots much faster than a tank gun.
   In the past, I would use the T-34 with it's 100 rounds of 76mm HE to attack factories and towns.  Bigger gun.  Makes sense, I thought.  Only it takes multiple hits to destroy targets, and like all tanks the cycle rate is very slow.   Leaving the T-34 extremely vunerable to nme counter air attacks.   Unlike the LVTA4, which gets the job done in about a quarter of the time.  FEAR the LVTA4 !
