PLEEEEEEEEEEAAAAASEEEEEE
make a Ditch or balked landing within the airfield boundaries a landing ..  it sucks to see "you have ditched" becuaes you skidded off the runway after an emergency landing with 1/2 wing or other dammage....

Yeah...

In case plane is damaged and does succesful emergency landing, it rolls on the side of runway ASAP and it's counted as landing..

In AH, you have to be sitting on the runway, not even 1 meter off the area is allowed, to have succesful landing, kinda silly.

I agree, anywhere on the base should be ok.  (I don't see why people still wouldn't go for the runway, you can crash into the tower, acks, fuel bunkers etc if you don't land on the runway.)

Regarding Ditching:

My personal view is that a controlled landing on the airfield without gear down, should be a ditch.  Its likely that an aircraft could be quickly brought back to service (if this was RL).

Landing anywhere off of the airfield, especially in enemy territory, amounts to an aircraft being effectively taken out of action.  Why?  Real ground, (with its rocks, trees, stumps, gulley's etc.) in general is not smooth.  The end result is the same as if the aircraft was destroyed.

If the pilot lands (even with gear down) in enemy territory, he would be taken out of action.  Why would this not be counted as a death?  How can a pilot that lands deep in enemy territory receive the same credit for a ditch as a pilot landing, with gear yet off of the runway, on his on airfield?

I propose adding a new category - destroyed aircraft.  If the airplane is ditched away from a friendly base its counted as destroyed without receiving a pilot death.  If ditched in enemy territory, airplane is destroyed and the pilot receives a death (unless he walks back to friendly territory   )  A pilot that damages an airplane that ditches off base, receives a kill since that aircraft has been destroyed.
thoughts?

Well MiG I really want to see you running around the map Landing/ditching with gear up/down on enemy terretory should count as a kill of aircraft, but not as a death of a pilot. Even if he choses not to run to friendly base...

I'm not sure about ditching enemy territory counting as a death.....after all I'd be alive.  Capture yes, but not a death.

1 thing I do see a lot of is people ditching or bailing out so's to get to an airfield a long way away.  This should not be allowed. Surely you should only be able to take off from the nearest friendly airbase.  If a base far away is under attack, bad luck.  Fly there.  Or drive when ground vehicles come into play.

One thing that always has to be remembered, balance of fair play, and playability.  If we start having too many restrictions, people will start to disappear and that is not what we want.  If you land on your base with wheels down, that should be a landing (apparently a credit for being able to do it right), if its not on base, it should be a ditch, and if in enemy held territory, a capture.  You think they're just gonna let ya trot off and grab another plane in R/L??? I for one know that I AIN'T GONNA GIVE YA THE OPPORTUNITY!!!  Fairness is often viewed as an opinion, but we are all adults here and know what is right and wrong... you cannot always have things in your favor.  Remember when you post a response to this thread, that you should consider others opinions and what they may consider as fair.
