major league gamers?
« on: June 20, 2008, 02:47:25 PM »
my friend plays halo3 and is hooked up to the major league gamers circuit. he told me that he and his team (squad) could join a tournament sponsered by MLG and could win up to 40 grand a piece. they have these tournaments for a bunch of different games.

i was wondering why aceshigh is not in it. it might be a better way to promote the game. but that would be cool for a online game like this for a person to be able to win some money based on your flying skills as a team.

i dont really know much about it. but my friend told me that people make a living winning tournaments playing this game.

just a thought it would be cool if your squad could join a tournament and that squad wins some money.

what do yall think?

Would never work... the attitude of Aces High players is completely different from those who play FPS's.

Effort due to a love of money seems a far stretch from effort due to a love of the game.

Won't ever work with AH as they don't have enough subscribers (at the moment) to facilitate the Global interest to offer that kind of prizemoney...

also AH2 is not as "fast paced" as these FPS Games.

Anyone that has played FPS's competively at LANs or in online leagues knows this is very true.  The mentality of the community isn't the type.  I played FPS games in online leagues for years and was a CAL admin for a few (www.caleague.com).

sounds cool, but in the long run it would serve no other purpose than to take the fun out of the game

Don't mean to sound harsh but it's a rather stupid idea.  You haven't been around long enough to remember how the game was 5+ years ago, when the game play was actually really good.  You could find good fights, squadrons would regularly rotate to help even out the sides and the skies were full of good sticks.

The day this appeared on the AH main page is the day the game play started to go down the tubes.

The game unfortunately hasn't been the same since.

I do not care if they ever offer cash prizes.  I am a late comer to this game but I am so glad I found it.  I think if they do offer cash prizes people will get really excited about HO's and the like.  It will take all the fun out of the game.  IMHO. :O
