we don't want to make the AVA so structured there's no room for new people to get a comfortable start. I think the whole idea of spying in moot. After a few hours both sides are pretty much going to have a good idea of each others assettes. My gut feeling on side switching is why not allow it for people who are not in squads that are actively fighting the strat war. The real serious war guys are not going to be switching sides., and as for myself I'd rather fly against live resistance. If I log on and there are no Axis I end up logging off after only one sortie. One reason the arena is starting to pick up is because new things are being tried and old myths of that won't work are being expelled. Let's not go so overboard in one direction we start alienating other players and their ideas again. I still say there's room in this arena for
War fighters, tactics nuts, buff drivers , and furballers.

You can't have a war without a fight.

There is much wisdom in this.

Agree with Strip, Shifty and OldBull. What I wanted was a debate on the issue and suggested something provocative, to some, maybe. At this point, time to switch country is not much of a issue as long as it's a matter of hrs before switching. OldBull said it very well and I agree.

Is it possible to entrust a couple responsibilities to some AvA part staffers?  Give some of the very active and responsible players the ability to allow people to switch sides when requested, due to side balance concerns or mistakes.  Keep the side change limited to 12 hrs otherwise.  Probably open up more problems, but figured I'd throw it out there.

Consider them AvA Deputies  :)

If? I have seen people from the allied command group, or squaddies of them anyway, on the axis side... so I don't believe in the "if" theory. As well when members of the same squad are on both side does not make me warm and fuzzy with the spirit of fair and neutral play. How many more advantages does the allied side really need? There is no partiality when players switch, and the side balancing excuse does not hold water at all. 95% of the people who claim this is how they roll are also the ones complaining they are disadvantaged and are usually an allied themed squad. I vote lock it up for the duration. Pick a side and have some fun, win, lose, or draw, that is what it is about, not being underhanded by choice or chance.

Well, see, here within lies the problem. You have squads on your side that purposely side switch to find the bombers. I have screens to prove it, and the offender admitting it. So, there is no policing of the sides or any kind of enforcement of sticking to the side that you sign up for. Personally I think that the arena should be side locked for the duration of the scenario , and the offenders booted for the duration of the scenario. This is not the MA. It was supposed to be a running organized event. But there is to be no enforcement. We've decided to switch to balance the numbers. This does not mean we are flying exclusively AXIS, it may be that we will be needed on the allied side. We've also requested our access removed from the allied forum so we are not privy to any plans or info so we cannot be accused of using that to any benefit. We will simply enjoy the guaranteed axis vs allied setup which is done very well.

As far as any planning, in our opinion, its a moot point when you have certain dweebs that will side switch just to find easy targets (bombers) to pad their E-peen ego. It kinda kills the fun, but they are allowed to do it without penalty so... here we are.

Just wanted to clarify because it seems to be getting blown out of proportion, or taken the wrong way.

In my opinion ,a timer wont work. When dweebs want to spy all they have to do is log into (or log in a shade on) the opposing side and convey the movement info via TS or Vent. Its been proven through the course of time, and literally hundreds of S3 and scenario frames that dweebs will find a way. Its viagara for their e-peen. They do nothing much else. If its not squad based, or at least squads responsible for each and every pilot and that is policed regularly ensuring that all stay on the side that they sign up for making a water tight opp.... Then this crap will happen.

We have no qualms about flying axis bombers for the duration of an entire scenario. We've done it before for many frames in another universe. We've done it to make the sides even where we were needed and had a hell of time doing it . It was a blast working with squads that you don't usually get to work with , and they also learned a thing or three about escorting ect. It was a win win. Just wanted to make that clear as there is no side bias.
