I know everyone is looking forward to the next plane set (I know I am), and from what I hear its going to be some more late war models.  I would really rather have started out with early model fighters like a 109E, Hurricanes, Spitfires 2, Bloch's, maybe even a p11c, and others , then work up to the later fighters.

I hope people aren't disappointed when the early fighters get released. Plus it would have given people something to look forward to, gettting that improved spit or a FW 190 if early planes where released first.

On a second thought, how do you think it will be handled in the arenas when we have a more complete plane set with early models?  I have an idea where each team gets a research building in the "city" that determines the planes your side can fly, destroy the city or the building and you put your sides plane development back.  As time goes by your research facility will allow new planes to be flown, in this way all the planes will be utilised, the early and the late war year models.  What do you guys think?

I was just thinking of something like that a few days ago. How about factories for each plane (maybe not for the diff variants)with the newer plane factories closer to the front line (I know not horribly realistic). That way it's easier to lose your "uber" planes with the older planes acting as your backbone of sorts.

Lots of ways to expand on that too.

I'd be happy with Score Multipliers or a Rolling Plane Set...

Actually I feel that play balance is pretty good with the current planeset.

We went thru this entire early planes versus late war planes conversation just a couple of weeks ago.

You can go back and read it, but the concensus came down to the fact that HTC started with Late war planes and a few mid war planes (love it or hate it thats the way it is and can't be changed), and should fill it as completely as possible and then work back towards early war.  Because at this point, early war planes don't add a whole lot to the arena, and basically become exclusively scenario material.

Scenarios are the best thing. MA is just practise for the ToD's.

If I remember right the reason for the late model plane set and the selection they make is to bring more variants to the game. The scenarios are never when I can be online so I dont care about them. give me bigger better planes.

RPS was the number 2 reason I left WB. If I wanted to play DOA I could do it for less than AH costs. BTW did anybody make a plane with 6 cannon .

Yep

The one that comes to mind the quickest is the Ta-152C. It is a 7 cannon fire breathing beast (in one configuration).

x1 Mk103 30mm Cannon (Enginemounted)
x2 Mk108 30mm Cannon (wingpods)
x2 MG151 20mm Cannons (traditional wingroots)
x2 MG151 20mm Cannons (Fuselage mounted over engine)

There were also several versions of the Me410's that I think had 6 cannons or more.

Must have decelerated to a virtual crawl when the whole set was fired!
