clipboard weirdness and game freezing

OK I've looked about and I've seen similar situations involving AMD processors and NVIDIA cards and Vista, but I'm having the same problem.
I've installed AHII on a computer at my mothers' house in the futile attempt at making it to FSO.
I have the dim clipboard at login, with the helicopter page, and when I enter an arena it appears dark, I have a helicopter page on the clipboard and I can get a few lines of text recieved before it system locks up.
The system is an intel Core2Duo 4300@1.8Ghz with 2Gb ram running XP home SP2. Graphics is ATI RADEON x1050.
AHII is set to 256Mb textures.
Any Ideas?

Is Ok, I got it sorted by running in 98 mode

Laptops using Intel's Core2 mobile CPU have the same issue as the dual core AMD's CPU's, but for a different reason.  Manufacturers trying to save battery power do away with the dual high resolution timers the game needs.

Ahhh, but this was a desktop system
She had a laptop too but I'm not a fan of trying to use lappies as gaming platforms
It's all good though, I go the issue sorted.
I did have major issues with room though on her computer desk. the top was too low and I couldn't put my pedals under far enough so my knees were hitting the keyboard tray and the throttle and joystick were so close together manoeuvring was uncomfortable to say the least!
Since that's a hardware issue I'm willing to bet there is not a lot you can do about that one, so I doubt I'll be trying to do it again any time soon.

When I pull up the roster on the clipboard, the roster seems to be blurry on the sides of the roster page. does anyone know why this could happen?

Are you forcing anisotropic filtering in your video settings?  That could do it.

To be honest I have no Idea. After my system crashed, I had to reinstall AH and thats when I started to see it. I'll post a pic to show ya.
