Tweak Settings Or Not?
« on: June 21, 2008, 11:34:37 PM »
When you load any computer program, including flight simulators, do you think it's best to just let the computer decide what are the best settings?  Or should you tweak the settings in search of better this or that?

I ask because my computer generally seems happier with whatever it detects at startup.  Not always, but mostly.  For example, I tried to get more detail in MS Flight Sim X but generally have to settle for less detail and more performance, the way the computer defaulted during X installation.

I've had a few successes in less demanding programs where choices have less impact on performance than in flight simulators.  But even in type size in bulletin boards, the computer seems to know best.  Whadya think?

Mostly, that is what I have done. Just recently when I built this computer have I changed any default settings. I really don't think it hurts to try. Just do it one change at a time.

I always tweak to my own particular preferences but there's usually some sort of trade-off.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.
