German P51

Not sure if there accurate or not. It would be nice to have a German P51 skin.

Sadly, the rules say you cannot make skins of captured aircraft, otherwise I would have made American Fw-190s, and German Spitfires and a B-17.

Finnish, they actually used them in combat.

As for the "German P-51's" they were used mostly for training Luftwaffe crews on how Allied aircraft flew and reacted when attacked - think TOP GUN & RED FLAG.

KG200 actually did use captured B-17's to fly along with US bomber streams to radio speed and courses to attacking fighters. They also used them on bombing ops I believe.

As for that "Famous Story" of a US pilot getting a YB-40 Gunship to lure a Captured Italian P-38 in and kill is PURE GRADE A BULL CHIT. However there is a true story of a captured P-38 being used by the Italians to shoot down one possibly two B-24's. If you are interested in it contact me and I will send it to you.

Don't think these "Captured" skins would be practical - as hardly any of them seen any real combat and the ones that did was very minor in regards to what other aircraft did.

Which would be enough, I would hope, to get them in game, but sadly, no.

It's not an "outrage" - it is simply HISTORY. They were captured - and used by the enemy. They didn't paint Luftwaffe insignia on them to "Wizz Off" the Allies but mainly to keep their own aircraft and flak gunners from BLOWING their butts out of the sky. No different than the German planes that were captured and tested by the US with US MARKINGS.

Which would be enough, I would hope, to get them in game, but sadly, no.

Actually, I think the rule with AH is that the aircraft had to see COMBAT in at least "Squadron Size" units. The Luftwaffe and KG200 never had more than a handfull of the captured B-17's flyable at any one time.

I would think having more than one or two aircraft flying combat multiple times, and engaging other forces would qualify. But hey, that's just me.

It would be silly to do captured birds with the limited slots for skins.  If you are doing German marked 51s, are we going to do RAF or USSAAF captured 109s, 190s, Zekes, Ju88s etc?

Just not worth it.  Plenty of great skins possible without captured birds.

Guppy is right, the slots for the 109s and 190s are already drying up... the 51D is full... etc etc. Captured skins open a whole new can of worms and there just isn't room for them.
